Visit this historical home redone in a Victorian style, with modern amenities. Come & go as you like. Adventure is just outside our door. Explore Glasgow, as we're conveniently located just off the square, find that our area is rich in history! A Scottish heritage and Abraham Lincoln himself studied here. We're also close to Mammoth Cave where you can experience one of the largest cave systems in the US. Not to mention the fantastic breakfast made and served by yours truly! Welcome, let's relax. Built in 1852 as the home for Theodosia (Tompkins) and Dr. Chris Hall. The walls are 14" deep - 3 brick deep. Hall Place was restored in 1989, when the house underwent major renovations to equip the house with modern-day amenities. House is decorated in a Victorian style. Theodosia and her family were forced from the home in 1861, when the home served as the Union headquarters during the Civil War. Hall Place is a National Historic building. So, walk the halls where the Union once occupied and be transported back in time. Front parlor, library, all sitting areas, dining room and kitchen. When my schedule allows, I always try to greet my guests when they arrive. Regardless, I make sure that a guest can access the house regardless of their check-in time. I enjoy chatting with guests over breakfast. Other than that, I'm a laid-back host. I know I like to do my own thing when I travel and I try to make sure each guest feels welcome to do the same. Of course, I'll happily chat and socialize, but I allow guests to make that choice. House is relatively quiet most days. Street is busy most weekdays when the businesses on the square opens, and again later in the afternoon. Surrounded by churches and other historical buildings. After 5, most of the businesses roll up their sidewalk, which was my first shock when I moved here. The community is fantastic! I feel the southern charm just about anywhere I go and I feel safe walking around during the day or night. Several venues are an easy walk, Yancey's, Plaza Theater and Little Taste of Texas. An excursion to Barren River Lake or Mammoth Cave, you need a car.
