A Jamaican Eco-Cottage in the Blue Mountains

Sankalpa is a separate Cottage, nestled in Irish Town district in the Blue Mountains. It's perfectly located for outdoor mountain lovers, - hiking, walking, writers chilling & sampling mountain cafes, or just folk who want a comfy base for discovering Kingston - our lively creative city! It is only 20 minutes to the University of the West Indies campus, & to Liguanea - a main commercial area with lots of restaurants & cultural happenings. Happy to share my favourite spots! Sankalpa is part of my lived philosophies - nurture and give back to the land, plant to nourish self and the bees, birds and other creatures. No poisons or toxins are used on the land and as far as possible, only natural products are used inside the homes, many with natural and essential oils. I compost, recycle, reuse, and repurpose. I use gravity fed water backup systems, solar water heaters, and solar electric systems. I have provided opportunities to help compost, recycle & reuse - if you choose. You will find locally produced welcome items - Blue Mountain coffee, Jamaican herbal teas, brown sugar. Special soaps & hair care items. An informative book shelf - read about our birds, history, running culture, historic houses, Coffee estates, cultural activities. There is hi-speed WiFi & a small workspace with storage for your laptop. I have put together an informative folder with all sorts of information - please have a read, & don't forget to sign my guest book & share your best experience. There is a digital lock for ease of access, outdoor parking by the gate. Being in the hills best to have a car for getting to & from the city - only 20 minutes to get down. First you will hear and see the goat herder out early with his goats, swishing them up the hill to munch on roadside bushes. Daisy, the rescue donkey next door, brays the morning awake, scattering the chickens! Dogs, near and far make their presence known. Chatter from early morning cyclists and walkers can be heard and are always happy to return a wave, and a ‘morning’! The mountain awakes. Sundays and public holiday mornings belong to the birds, the goats, and you, to savour the birdsongs, sip coffee, do yoga or meditate. Life is good!
