✓ Two Bedrooms, One Bathroom ✓ Self Check-in with Keyless Entry ✓ Walk to Restaurants, Cafes and Shops ✓ Two Blocks from Downtown Keene ✓ Wifi and Smart TVs with Local Channels. ✓ Complimentary Tea and Coffee. The house has been separated into two living areas. Guests enter the front door to their private guest suite on the 2nd floor. We enter the back door and our living space is on the first floor. You will be staying in one of the oldest homes in Keene. The Aaron Seaman House was built in 1804 and has retains much of its antique Colonial Charm. Your private space on the 2nd floor includes two bedrooms (each with a queen bed), one bathroom and a beverage / snack center in the hallway between the bedrooms. The 1st bedroom has a firmer mattress and includes an adjoining sitting room. There is a door in between the rooms, so if one person needs privacy or stay up to watch TV, the door can be closed in between the sitting room / bedroom. The 2nd bedroom has a softer mattress and is approximately the same size as the 1st bedroom, but with an open concept. It includes a sitting area with desk and chair for a workspace. The beverage center is in the hallway between the two bedrooms. Help yourself to the complimentary coffee and tea. There is a mini-fridge, microwave, ice maker, tea kettle and k-cup coffee maker. Filtered water is available in the fridge. Your bathroom has shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided in the 42" x 32" stand-up shower. Please note the decorative shower door has an opening of 16" wide. The Aaron Seaman House is over 200 years old and retains many of its antique beauty such as original wood beams, wide wooden board floors and stained glass over the entryway. Being over 200 years old, it also has the typical quirks of a house this age. The walls are original horse hair plaster and the floors have settled throughout the years so some areas may be a little uneven and the stairs squeak as you go up and down. Back in the day, homes were made for much shorter people, so for our taller guests, keep that in mind as you enter the rooms! We welcome travelers from all walks of life and consider hosting a privilege. Your area of the house is private. Your rooms are upstairs, our rooms are downstairs. Your entrance is at the front of the house, ours it at the back of the house. We have installed a divider in the downstairs hallway to further assist with privacy. Although we are in the same house, there is no overlap of living space. Although you won't see us in your part of the house, you may hear us in our part of the house! We are happy to meet outside if you would like to meet in person. We are typically around to help out if you need anything! We enjoy interacting with our guests, but appreciate that guests may enjoy privacy. Happy to meet in person if requested! We consider hospitality a gift and a privilege! Keene is a quaint New England town with an "up and coming" foodie and art scene. You will be two blocks from downtown Keene / Head of the Square with easy walk to Keene's many local shops, cafes, restaurants as well as Keene State College. Enjoy the free walking tour of the Wall Dog Historical Murals scattered around the downtown. There are also walking / bicycle trails nearby too. We are an easy drive to lakes, hiking and ski areas, including the famous Mt. Monadnock. Spofford Lake, Surry Dam, Island Pond and Warren Lake are some local favorite swimming and kayaking spots. 15 minutes North is beautiful Walpole, NH with Burdick's Chocolate Shop and European Restaurant, as well as the stunning Walpole Mountain View Winery. A 20 – 25 minute drive West will take you to Brattleboro VT, a funky, fun classic Vermont spot. The Marina Restaurant and Whetstone Brewery's rooftop Beer Garden both overlook the Connecticut River. Many ski areas are in easy driving distance: Crotched Mountain, Okemo, Mt. Sunapee, Mt. Snow, Pat’s Peak and more! Restaurants and shopping are within walking distance to the downtown. Dunkin Donuts, CVS and Starbucks are less than 1/2 mile away, and Hannaford grocery store is just under a mile away. ✓ This is a smoke-free home. We accommodate guests age 13 and above. ✓ The antique floors may be uneven in spots so please watch your step and wear the slippers provided as the wooden, tile floors and stairs may be slippery with just socks. ✓ To get to your suite, there are 10 stairs to the landing. The bathroom is at the top of the landing and it's 3 more stairs to the full 2nd floor where your 2 bedrooms and beverage center awaits. ✓ People in the 1800's were shorter than today, so please watch your head, especially in the bathroom which include some of the original beams from when the house was built in 1800's. ✓The heat and AC in your rooms is separate from the house and you control the temperature. We do supplement the heat for the main part of the house with a wood stove and pellet stove. ✓As part of our cleaning routine, we use a UV Light Sanitizer Lamp that emits UVC germicidal light in each room. Studies have shown the light helps to inactivate viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew and fungi by breaking down their DNA or RNA. These lights are also helpful in the prevention of secondary allergies related to airborne allergens.
