Rocky Drift is a 261ha Private Nature Reserve situated in the Elands Valley Conservancy. Skirting the escarpment and extending down steep, rugged cliffs, Rocky Drift Private Nature Reserve is located on the valley floor on the banks of the Joubert spruit and extending into the heart of Cycad Valley.A birders paradise, our permanent residents include a nesting pair of Black Eagles, Grey Loerie as well as the colourful Knysna Loerie, Hoopoe and African Paradise Fly-Catcher to name but a few. Fully furnished open plan lounge and kitchen. Single bedroom cottage with queen bed, private patio overlooking the river. Well-equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave and gas hob. On the banks of the Joubert Spruit in the privacy of Cycad Valley surrounded by jagged cliffs. A mere 2 and a 1/2 hours from Johannesburg off the N4, we are ideally located to give you that complete 'out of the city' feel. Stargazing, hiking and swimming is highly recommended in the many natural rock pools situated along the spruit. We have three, well marked, self-guided hiking trails, a 3km, 8km and 10km. Hiking along the 10km trail will take in all the splendours of the valley including the small stone kraals and shelters used by the Boers who were stationed in the valley during the Anglo-Boer war protecting the ‘Kruger Millions’ as they made their way to Lourenco Marques (Maputo today) with the Boer President Paul Kruger, criss-crossing the spruit and culminating in the majestic Cappy Falls, a 35m waterfall. A sight not to be missed.
