The Space: Originally built in 1953, The Chilterns (also known as the house on stilts) was the most talked about building in the entire of Sydney due to its gravity defying architecture. It was the first residential flat building of its kind and to think floor to ceiling windows, internal bathrooms & fluted glass were all built all in a time when there was no scientific evidence to suggest smoking was unhealthy is unbelievable. All the furniture is designer. The interior design is modelled around Hollywood Regency & Art Deco design, each room revolves around one tone of velvet with accenting black, white & gold to reflect this style. Every part of this apartment has been thought out and is a unique space that I would call a must-stay. The Neighborhood: Located in a prime position across from the renowned “The Boat House” restaurant and cafe, and 500m away from the first international airport in Australia, now world class restaurant Catalinas. Take the kids for a walk or bike ride down the promenade and feel the serene vibe coming off of the streets lined with mature green leafy trees and the soft bobbing of the boats on the marina. Getting Around: Prime position, just a 500m walk to the ferry wharf or a 50m walk to the bus stop. Or drive from New South Head Road straight into the city (10 mins) or to Bondi Beach (8 min). Other Things to Note: The building is located on a main road, so please bear in mind there's a little bit of ambient car tire noise, we've had a guest report it as disruptive during the night. In addition, regrettably there is no lift or A/C. Also please note, unfortunately as this property is heritage listed, there are some constraints on improvements that we can make.
