Tentrr Signature Site - Maybrook Farm - The Ridge
Summary: Soaring View of Hudson Valley from Gorgeous Ridge on Farm - Direct Access to Empire Rail Trail - Fishing and boating on our Pond! Private Hiking or Walk to Appalachian Trail! Only 90 minutes from NYC! Breathtaking views from the highest point on our farm. Enjoy the stars at night and sweeping view of hills and valley directly from your tent site. Access your site directly and privately from the main road via a tractor entrance. You can park at the bottom of the ridge and walk only 2-3 minutes up the mowed path to your private tent site, under the shade of many beautiful large trees. 4-wheel drive vehicles can park directly at site. The pond has a dock for fishing. There is a seasonal babbling brook (Flatrock Brook) that runs through the farm. Follow the mowed path down and around the 100 acres to access the pond. Farm is filled with wildlife, including species in our protected wetlands. You may see turtles, frogs, bunnies, monarch butterflies, rabbits, deer, wild turkeys, herons, hawks, trout, and every kind of songbird you can imagine. We will provide you with a map for short scenic hiking around the property, as well as maps to fantastic local hiking spots (including several entrances to the Appalachian Trail!) Tons to do in the local area, including breweries, cideries, orchards, restaurants, museums, Stormville Flea Market, and beautiful parks. We will provide a binder full of recommendations and ideas! *Note: this is a working farm and is adjacent to another working farm. Both farms grow hay. There are times of year when tractors and hay carts will be audible during the day. You may be able to hear a rooster in the distance. **IMPORTANT NOTE: Unfortunately, due to historic tropical rainfall and flooding, the entrance to the bike path from our property is TEMPORARILY inaccessible. It's beyond flooded -- the stream became another pond and the small wooden crossing is gone. Once everything dries out and we build a new bridge we will update this listing. (This does NOT impact the campsite, which is up on the ridge.) In the meantime, there are many public entrances to the bike path -- the closest one is 559 County Hwy 8, Poughquag, NY 12570, which is a 4 minute drive away from the site.** This is a natural environment and you may encounter normal outdoor bugs and critters like chipmunks, squirrels, mosquitoes, flies, spiders, etc. You may find bear or coyote poop in the middle of the trail. The Space: Soaring View of Hudson Valley from Gorgeous Ridge on Farm - Direct Access to Empire Rail Trail - Fishing in our Pond! Private Hiking Trail or Walk to Appalachian Trail! Guest Access: This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with land owners to offer unique accommodations in beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature! Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed (see photos for the exact setup). The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night. Group Camping: We welcome campers with larger parties, but the standard Tentrr setup only includes the canvas tent plus the additional pop-up dome tent. You may need and are encouraged to bring additional camping gear of your own if you plan on camping with a large party. Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation. You may have as many campers in your party up to the maximum limit that is set for the listing, but please note that the only bed provided as a standard amenity is the one set up inside the canvas tent. Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean. Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days. What you should bring: -S'mores supplies & any food you'd like to eat -A cooler to keep your grub from spoiling -Bedding and pillows -Lanterns and lighting Other Things to Note: Ticks are present in the Hudson Valley, so please take all precautions. There are black bears all over the Hudson Valley, so please secure your food. There will be a garbage can for your use at checkout. Absolutely no hunting, but fishing in the pond is allowed with a valid NYS fishing license. Please leave no trace and do not disturb animals or their habitats. 10 Gallons of potable water provided for your use. Please bring extra if you anticipate needing more. 1 milk crate of seasoned fire wood is provided free of charge. Please bring additional wood if you will need more. Nearby stores do sell wood if needed. If you're inexperienced building a wood fire, you may wish to bring a campfire starter (e.g. duraflame log, fat wood sticks, etc.) Interaction with Guests: Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property. If a CampKeeper submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the CampKeeper’s property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set! Reservation Modifications/Cancellations: Please note the terms of the cancelation policy as they are outlined in your reservation confirmation on Airbnb. Your CampKeeper is unable to change or cancel your reservation on your behalf, and they are unable to waive any cancellation fees (if applicable).
