You will be able to discover in particular the Euratechnologies center of excellence, a site dedicated to new Information and Communication Technologies. This district also has an important associative activity and public facilities making the district pleasant to live in, such as a swimming pool, a media library, a youth theatre and one of the most important private polyclinics in France. The district is crossed by the Avenue de Dunkerque, a very commercial avenue. The city center is easily accessible thanks to the Bois Blancs and Canteleu metro stations. -- Vauban Esquermes The Vauban Esquermes district is characterised by two main assets that are highly appreciated by its inhabitants, on the one hand its immediate proximity to the city centre and, on the other hand, its openness to large green spaces. With its 50 hectares of nature, the Vauban-Esquermes district is the "green lung" of Lille thanks to the Boulogne woods, the zoological park, the Vauban garden and the many squares. The Vauban district also hosts an exceptional heritage with in particular the "Queen of the Citadels", a masterpiece of Vauban built in the 17th century. The Catholic University is also a major asset of this neighbourhood, which welcomes many students and makes it a lively and dynamic area. The atmosphere of this district is a mixture of calm and tranquility of green spaces and student activity. -- Faubourg de Béthune The Faubourg de Béthune district extends on both sides of the ring road. Integrated at the beginning of the 1990s into the social development system implemented by the city's policy, the Faubourg de Béthune has benefited from the establishment of structuring facilities: construction of an early childhood centre and a retirement home, rehabilitation of the shopping centre, rehabilitation of the neighbourhood house and construction of a multimedia library. In recent years, the district has been transformed to accommodate new public facilities such as benches and games in the various sectors of the district, the construction of the Jardin des Sports and a flowering of the rue du Faubourg de Béthune, the boulevard de Metz and the avenue Verhaeren which makes the district more pleasant to live. -- Lille Sud The Lille South district is a popular and young district, a dynamic and restless district that is constantly moving, a district in the making. The ring road separates the centre of Lille and South Lille. On its western half lies the largest hospital and university campus in Europe. Every day, thousands of workers, students and patients meet on their way to hospitals, medical schools and Eurasanté, a business park dedicated to health and biotechnology. To the East, the residential part of the city, built around one of the largest cemeteries in Europe, is surrounded by two shopping streets, the Faubourg des Postes on the left and the Faubourg d'Arras on the right. In this district, old brick buildings and modern apartments are mixed. Lille Sud is at the heart of Lille's major urban development project. -- Moulins The Moulins district is characterized by an industrial heritage. Today, the old textile factories have been transformed to accommodate new housing and public facilities, but also a theater, a media library, administrative services and the Faculty of Law. Schools, a new college, cultural structures, sports and health facilities have been established and continue to be established in the neighborhood. The population is mainly young and student and gives a dynamism to the district, with also an important associative life. Following the example of the Fives district, this district continues to be developed with the major urban project Porte de Valenciennes to accommodate new housing in a pleasant living environment with many green spaces around. The district is also well served and can be found in the center of Lille in a few minutes by transport. -- Wazemmes The Wazemmes district is very popular, heterogeneous and lively thanks to numerous bars and accordionists who enjoy themselves in the streets of the district. It contains old traditional Lille houses. The commercial sector of the Wazemmes district is made up of a third of local shops, which makes it possible to develop a pleasant neighborhood life. Léon Gambetta Street alone has more than 200 signs. You can also mingle with the crowd at the Wazemmes market or in the covered gallery which offers beautiful Nordic regional specialities. -- Vieux Lille The Old Town district is the most charming in Lille thanks to its old facades, cobbled streets and omnipresent 17th century architecture. All you have to do is look up and walk through the cobbled streets to admire the beauty of this neighborhood. Steeped in history and dynamic, the Old Town will give you the opportunity to visit the Hospice Comtesse Museum, the birthplace of General de Gaulle or the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church. You can also go shopping with the many luxury shops, made of stones and bricks, like most of the shops in the area. -- Euralille The Euralille district represents the business district of Lille. It is a new district centered on tertiary infrastructure, with two TGV stations in particular. Euralille is the third business district in France after La Défense and Part Dieu. The Le Corbusier Viaduct, emblematic of the district, links Lille Flandres station to Lille Europe station. Within this district is the Tower of Lille, which has become a symbol of the renewal of the Lille metropolis, the Euralille shopping centre, the Grand Palais, which includes 3 spaces: congresses, conventions and seminars; exhibitions; and the Zénith Arena. -- Le Centre Lille-center is a huge district, stretching from the Saint-Sauveur Station, through the Jean-Baptiste Lebas Park, the Republic Place, to Euralille, via the Grand Place and the Lille-Flandres station. This wealthy district, in which large bourgeois residences still exist, is also one of the most expensive in the city. It is also the most important district of the city in terms of population. A young population, often full of cafés, busy shops and walkers all contribute to this seductive atmosphere. Shopping is king: most of the major retail chains are present in the central district. Lille-center is also a cultural center with many museums such as the Centre for Fine Arts or the Museum of Natural History. ## Transports Metro : Line M2 (Porte de Valenciennes station) : 5 mn walk Bus : Line L1 (Rue De Valenciennes station) : 5 mn walk Lines 14 and N1 (Douai Arras station) : 10 mn walk From Lille Flandre station : 10 mn by car.
