Travel East or West from here and discover a string of pretty seaside town and villages with habitats including sand and shingle beaches, clay and salt marshes, rolling sand dunes and picturesque quays. Head in the other direction from Sandpit Cottage however and you will soon be in Wroxham, which is considered the gateway to the Broads. Join a tour or charter your own day launch and drift along these much-celebrated waterways. You should also try and make time for a trip to the medieval city of Norwich with its splendid Norman Castle, numerous museums galleries and theatres and award-winning market and Lanes. You can even take the train from nearby Gunton Station, which will also take you to the seaside town of Sheringham, Cromer and wonderful Wroxham too.
