Springfield, Cranham, Cotswolds
Springfield, Cranham - sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms
As you drive along the narrow country lanes, you'll get a real feel for the location of this pretty cottage. It sits in a little village beneath Coopers Hill, which is famed for the somewhat unusual Cotswold tradition of cheese rolling! To the rear of the cottage rise the soaring trees of Buckholt Woods. Springfield sleeps five guests and is dog friendly. It's a lovely base for two couples, or a family stay, with a traditional interior that is warm and welcoming, an inviting living room, well-equipped kitchen, handy boot room and an enclosed garden. The original deep set windows can be seen throughout and in the living room an electric, remote control log burner gives a warm glow from the wide brick fireplace. Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom. The third bedroom is a compact annexe in the garden with its own ensuite shower and W.C. Outside there is a private drive with parking for three cars and an enclosed garden with a picnic bench, where you can sit and relax with your morning coffee as you listen to the sound of the wind in the trees beyond. Ground Floor Entrance Hall: Walk through the front door into the small hall, with tiled flooring and a deep-set window. To the left, carpeted stairs lead upstairs, whilst a wooden latch door leads into the living room. Living Room: Enter the light and airy living room through the wooden door and be greeted by clean and characterful interiors and original features. The original fireplace provides a focal point in the room and is framed by two comfy two-seater settees and two small side tables. A woven rug on the wooden floor adds colour and texture, and on it, a colourful upholstered stool acts as a coffee table, but could also be used as seating. There's also a rattan occasional chair with a plush faux fur rug. Integrated shelving with books and ornaments each side of the fireplace offers storage in the room, and a large floor lamp gives the perfect light for reading in the evenings. Turn on the electric fire, giving the room a cosy, realistic glow, and warmth, and relax whilst you watch your favourite program on the wall-mounted TV. A wooden chest underneath the TV provides a place to store blankets and games. Kitchen: Enjoy lazy breakfasts and homemade evening meals together in the country-style kitchen and dining room. With its open-plan layout and bench style table and seating, this area makes cooking and eating together easy and enjoyable. The kitchen has a good amount of cupboard space, a large integrated fridge-freezer, washing machine, and an electric oven and hob. The rear garden is visible from the kitchen, where a glass-panelled door leads you through to the boot room and out into the garden. Boot Room: The boot room is a practical space for storing shoes and boots and towelling off muddy dogs after a long country walk. The conservatory-style space lets in plenty of light from the garden into the kitchen, and on a sunny day, is the ideal place to dry wet coats, clothes, or shoes. The room has plenty of hooks to hang coats and bags. First Floor Climb the curved, carpeted stairs up to the first floor. Bedroom One: The calming master bedroom features an iron-framed double bed. The room is relaxing and tranquil, with pops of colour and interest, without being overwhelming. The deep-set window means there's a windowsill big enough to be used as a shelf beside the bed, and the room has reading lamps on both sides of the bed. At the foot of the bed, a large stool with colourful woven fabric provides a place for a suitcase or luggage. The room has a wicker chair with a cosy faux fur rug throw, and hooks behind the door, each with a coat hanger to hang clothes, dressing gowns, or coats. Bedroom Two: This twin bedroom is cosy and inviting, with a subtle blue and white colour scheme and quirky framed art prints. The standard-sized twin beds are not configured like a traditional twin room, but instead in an L-shape, allowing for more floor space. A thick, soft rug in the centre of the floor gives the room texture and interest and makes a great space for children to play games together. Both beds have a bedside lamp, one on the deep windowsill shelf, and one on a chest of drawers. A checked-print blanket on each bed offers extra warmth during the colder months. There are four hooks behind the door, and like the master bedroom, each has a coat hanger, providing hanging space for clothes or coats. Bathroom: The bathroom is a calming space to refresh and unwind, with a shower over a P-shaped bath, toilet, and storage cupboards, including under-sink storage. A window above the bath lets in natural light and a muted blue and white colour scheme gives the room tranquillity. The space and storage make the room a practical family bathroom. Annexe Walk through the garden and enter the annexe, which has a double bed, toilet, and separate electric shower. This compact space is great if two couples are staying, offering a space away from the main house, but without feeling separated. The monochromatic colour scheme is echoed in the beams which have been painted black, resulting in a chic, striped effect on the high vaulted ceiling. A lamp near the headboard provides light in the room, ideal for reading. Put books and water on the bedside table in the evening, and your hot drink in the morning as you enjoy a relaxed and unhurried start to the day. Wall hooks, each with a coat hanger, provides hanging space for clothes and coats. Dry clothes and towels on the heated rails, which also warms the room in the colder months. An electric shower and separate toilet with sink mean guests in the annexe don't need to go back to the house for bathroom facilities. Outside At the front of the property, a large stone area provides parking for three cars and a high hedge offers a sense of privacy from the main road and surrounding properties. Enjoy bike rides through Cranham Forest and the wider area, and on your return, store them securely with three metal bike stands at the front of the property. In the enclosed rear garden, cook something delicious on the BBQ and enjoy dinner alfresco on the picnic table. With access from the garden, through the boot room, into the kitchen, dinner, and drinks outside is made easy and convenient. The garden is a great space for children to enjoy and is safe for dogs. With a window above the sink in the kitchen out through the boot room and into the garden, guests can keep an eye on children or four-legged friends as they play outside. A hedge across the far end gives the garden an almost unbroken backdrop of trees and greenery which can be enjoyed from the kitchen and whilst having morning coffee at the picnic table.
