There are actually three separate levels of decking, including a rooftop deck, a deck off the main living room and decks off the upstairs bedrooms. The back porch encircles two beautiful mature trees that are growing up right in the middle of the deck. In fall, there will be a stunning array of colors across the valley and throughout the woods surrounding the home. When the leaves fall in the winter, there will be panoramic views of the valley floor. During the summer, the dense foliage gives an incredibly secluded and peaceful retreat. Finally, screened in porch will let you continue to enjoy the outdoors...minus the pesky mosquitos! You enter the house by walking around to the left, underneath the back porch. Once you enter the home, the first room is the kitchen, which boasts stainless steel appliances and a great spot to prepare a meal. Downstairs has three rooms, one with a king bed, one with a Full bed, and the other with 2x twin beds Note: the woodburning stove is not to be used by guests for insurance liability reasons. Guest Access: Guests will have access to the entire home and property. The gravel driveway is the property line for the neighbors, so please be sure to respect this boundary of the gravel driveway. Our home has a steeper gravel drive and road. This will not be a problem for any vehicles, but we do want guests to be aware that access might seem challenging at first to the home. Don't worry! Just keep driving! It is a gravel road that is very steep in places. We cannot guarantee access during inclement weather. If your vehicle is unable to reach the home for any reason, we cannot offer a refund; or if it becomes damaged, we cannot be responsible for the damages. All cancellations due to weather are subject to our cancellation policy. There can be unpredictable winter weather in the Shenandoah Valley, which can make traversing roads and accessing homes challenging. We recommend purchasing traveler's insurance if you are concerned that your vehicle might not be able to traverse snowy roads during inclement weather and you may have to cancel. We do allow rescheduling and crediting your stay towards a future stay in lieu of a refund due to cancellation. The Neighborhood: Our home is secluded in a wooded area of Shenandoah. While it is secluded, there are neighbors not far off, and town is only 10 minutes away with a variety of restaurants including GT's Smokehouse, Mamma Mia's, Rudy's, and Luray Downtown Historic District (this is different from the bigger town of Luray about forty minutes away). Kayak/Canoe rental and outdoor adventure trips are easily scheduled right up the road at Shenandoah River Adventures Getting Around: Our home has a steeper gravel drive and road. If you are a person who prefers all the creature comforts of a boutique hotel, then our home and property is not for you. Our home has been set up for guests who are traveling to Shenandoah to truly enjoy the mountain air and all that the outdoors have to offer. We frequently see all kinds of wildlife on our property, which is a huge part of our love for the valley. It is not uncommon to see rabbits, deer, bear, snakes, mosquitos (and all other types of insects), lizards, spiders possums, frogs, and maybe even a raccoon or two. If any of this makes you uncomfortable, we recommend finding accommodations elsewhere :) The property is on well water. If multiple guests are trying to shower and use sinks at the same time, you may encounter a problem with water pressure. There is no issue if one person at a time is showering. Interaction with Guests: We like to give our guests privacy, so we offer contact free check-in. Just know that we are only a quick phone call away if ever the need should arise!
