As this is the gateway to the Peak District National Park there’s good walking close by, including up to Solomon’s Temple which offers some spectacular views across the High Peak. This is a great base for exploring a number of pretty towns and villages within easy reach including Bakewell, 12½ miles away, which is home to the stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton, 11 miles away, the fascinating plague village of Eyam, 13¾ miles and the start/end of the Pennine Way at Edale is 13 miles.
