The property faces south at an altitude of 1,100 m with panoramic views of the Mölltal. The house itself is 100 years old, but has been tastefully renovated preserving its atmosphere (lots of wooden beams and floors!). Downstairs, there is a very large kitchen diner with a traditional sitting area where hunters have been telling each other stories for centuries after a few beers. Through the hallway, you can reach the modern living room with TV, DVD player and wood stove. There is access to wireless internet throughout the house. 6 bedrooms for 16 adults and 2 children. The house also features a laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Outside, you'll find a new, sunny terrace and since there are only 6 farmhouses on the road, there's practically no traffic. The area around the Gatternighof is also called the pearl of the Hohe Tauern National Park. And for good reason: from the farmhouse, you can walk straight into a beautiful nature reserve that is still unblemished by tourism. Here you'll find wild orchids in bloom and there are rare birds and insects to admire. So be sure to bring along a pair of binoculars. Who knows? You may well see a deer, a stag or a chamois! The towns of Spittal, Lienz, Villach and Klagenfurt are also worth a visit. A great tip is: buy the KärntenCard. This card is for summer and winter activities throughout the province of Carinthia. During the winter, you can go ski touring, snowshoeing, ice skating, etc. In the spring, summer and part of the autumn, this card gives you free entrance to 100 attractions such as cable cars, tour boats, swimming pools, zoos, museums, etc. With this card, you can also get a discount in many places. You can ski all year round on the Mölltaler Gletscher, at an altitude of 3,122 m. This glacier also features a fun park and is usually not crowded. For the winter season, there is also the Ankogel-Mallnitz, altitude 2,637 m. Goldeck, altitude 1,724 m. Parking in Baldramsdorf with the longest black run in Europe and 50 ha. of freeride. Grossglockner-Heiligenblut, altitude 2,902 m. Overlooking Austria's highest mountain and freeride paradise or Lienz-Zettersfeld. You can also take a 13 minute (car) train to Bad Gastein in. The homeowner can be booked as a National Park Ranger for beautiful (snowshoe) walks, to observe wildlife or for botanical or geological walks.
