The picturesque village of Thornton-le-Dale, situated in the North York Moors National Park, is home to the delightful Willow Tree Cottage. Voted several times as one of the prettiest villages in the UK, there is a village green and stream that meanders through the village. In the summer months a band will play on the green, and you can enjoy an ice cream from the local ice cream parlour. There are some small independent shops as well as the very popular chocolate factory. This semi-detached cottage is right in the centre of the village, next to the owners’ pub, which is one of the most popular in the area for good food and a warm welcome. The pub is also the hub of the village for the cyclists that come in their thousands to use the Dalby Forest cycling tracks. The road from the village leads straight to the Dalby Forest, home to the World Cup Cycle Trail. This makes the cottage a perfect place for cyclists and keen walkers. After a long day in the great outdoors, what better than to cycle back to the cottage and have a drink in the pretty courtyard to the rear of the pub. The cottage is a great base for visiting the resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby, as well as the North York Moors National Park and the Wolds. York is only an hour away and should not be missed. This fantastic medieval city, with the Minster standing proud in the centre, has something for all age groups. Beach 15½ miles. Shop 25 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
