The Appartamento del Capitano is a charming and elegant apartment situated on the third floor of the ancient Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, a building that played an extremely important role in the early Medieval politics of Cortona when the town was a city state. The Capitano del Popolo was the historical figure who traditionally represented the people of the city. This big palazzo overlooks the main square of the town, Piazza della Repubblica, giving a cross-section of the daily life in Cortona.
