Set in the owner’s grounds with a private seating area overlooking the fields to the rear, Willow Cottage is only 100 yards to the local farm shop with a lovely café and plenty of local produce to buy, including the award-winning butcher sausages. You can visit the animals on site too and even the adults love to do this while picking up your fresh eggs for breakfast. Follow further up the coast and discover some of the pretty fishing villages, golden beaches and sprinkling of castles and ruins. The vibrant city of Newcastle is only 13 miles away with the fabulous quayside and wonderful architecture throughout the city. Hadrian’s Wall’s nearest Roman fort is The Chesters, which is only 31 miles from the cottage. Further south is Whitley Bay and Tynemouth, both worth a visit for the beautiful promenade and Spanish City, seafood cafés and bistros.
