Overview This spacious apartment is well-situated on the western side of East Oxford. The neighbourhood borders Central Oxford and includes the fun part of Cowley Road - beloved by locals and visitors for its numerous multi-ethnic & independent restaurants, bars, music venues and shops. There are also green parks, river walks, a golf course and sports facilities including swimming pool, tennis courts, bouldering wall and a running track all within walking distance. Converted from an 1890's townhouse the apartment now offers impressive space, light and an appealing individual style with all you need for a comfortable stay whether long or short. Ideally located within easy walking distance of everything you need: 5 minute walk to Cowley Road and Magdalen Road - for local amenities; 8 minute walk to Magdalen Bridge - the eastern gateway to the medieval city and 10 minutes further along the College-lined High Street to Carfax Tower - Oxford's centre point. Cars are not required in this location however for those with cars we have parking permits available for the on-street parking bay directly in front of the house. Alternatively the apartment has excellent public transport links – for Oxford City Centre, the London airports or central London. For work related visits we are very conveniently located for the central Oxford colleges , Oxford Brookes University, Oxford Business Park, Science Park, the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Nuffield hospitals. The living space The apartment occupies the entire two upper floors of a large Victorian townhouse previously owned by Oxford University as post-graduate student accommodation. We have carefully renovated it, restoring beautiful period features including the sash windows, fireplace and original wood floors. Features now include: - Modern bathroom with shower over the bath - Two spacious bedrooms: one with king size bed and one superking size bed, luxurious premium mattresses, plenty of clothes storage, full length mirrors - Fully equipped kitchen with all appliances including full-size dishwasher, microwave, electric oven, ceramic hob, full size fridge freezer, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine - Open plan dining area with extendable dining table seating up to 6 comfortably - New central heating boiler - Separate utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer - Wi-Fi throughout: Unlimited 100mbps Virgin fibre broadband - 42' TV (Freeview) with the essential free to air channels and players You’re welcome to use anything within the apartment and for your convenience we provide the following: - A cleaning service at no extra charge for 2 hours per week which includes cleaning the apartment and a change of towels & bed linen (extra cleaning services and hand pressed linen can be provided for an additional charge - please enquire before booking) - A selection of teas, coffee and kitchen larder ingredients - herbs, spices, olive oil, condiments and baking ingredients are provided for your use - Milk and fresh breakfast items such as pastries, bread, preserves, cereals, free range eggs, tomatoes, cheese and fruit sufficient for breakfast and lunch until you’re ready to explore the neighbourhood shops! - Bathrobes and slippers for each guest - Shower gel, shampoo and hand soaps - Laundry and dishwasher detergents - Cleaning products, Marigolds, pinny etc. - Wifi throughout the space: Unlimited 100mbps fibre broadband - TV (Freeview) with the essential free to air channels and players - Power socket adaptors for international travelers, extension cords - US/UK voltage convertor available on request - Luggage scale available on request Parking: We can provide visitor permits for the on-street parking bay outside the house - please request details when booking. In addition there is free 2 hour street parking 25 metres away (for your visitors). Exterior of the property: The apartment does not have it's own outside space although the front steps provide an ideal place to sit by the lavender plants to watch the sunset! Bicycles can be locked to bike racks in the small communal front garden. Other things to note: - Weekly bed linen / towel change plus a 2 hour clean provided at no extra charge - The apartment is on the upper two floors of a 4 story house. From street level there are 11 wide steps up to the main front door of the house which opens to the main front hall of the house (the raised ground floor). The front hall provides access to the private main door of the apartment which is accessible only by the guests of the apartment. The main door of the apartment leads to a stairway to the 1st floor and main living area. The stairway to the 2nd floor leads to the bedrooms, bathroom and utility area. Further information on the neighbourhood: The western side of East Oxford is fast becoming a destination itself aside from the attractions of the historic city centre. This is is a vibrant multi cultural neighbourhood with numerous independent cafés, bars, restaurants, pubs and shops, all within easy walking distance of the apartment. The lively Cowley Road is a 5 minute walk with a Boot's pharmacy, Tesco Metro and Sainsbury’s Local supermarkets as well as numerous smaller ethnic food stores and an excellent food/farmers market every Saturday selling fresh local produce. There is a wide range of restaurants and cafés in the area including Italian, Greek, Chinese, Turkish, Sri Lankan, Indian, Lebanese, Thai, Syrian, Korean, Japanese, Texmex, Caribbean and Nepalese as well as modern British! Several of the local restaurants and gastro pubs are widely renowned and we’re happy to recommend our favourites! The Cowley Road is home to an independent cinema and arguably Oxford's best alternative nightlife with numerous bars, comedy and live music venues. Classical music venues are also nearby on the Iffley Road. The famous Roger Bannister running track is just down the road and the adjacent Oxford University sports complex with pool and other facilities is open to visiting academics. The River Thames is less than 5 minutes walk away and there are rowing boats and punts available for hire at Magdalen Bridge (8 minute walk). There are also several public parks, a golf course, the Oxford Botanic Gardens and green spaces alongside the rivers all within easy walking distance. For work related visits the apartment is very conveniently located for the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Nuffield hospitals, central Oxford colleges, Oxford Brookes University, Oxford Business Park and Oxford Science Park.
