Welcome to our beautiful family-oriented 3-bedroom mountain chalet. Just a short drive to North Conway, skiing, the Kangamangus, and all the year-round activity the north country has to offer. Whether you are a hiker, skier or family with young kids, this area has something to offer for everyone year-round. The space: It's a gorgeous, clean, well-maintained, spacious 3-bedroom chalet in the Eidelweiss district of Madison, NH, just minutes from North Conway and White Mountain National Forrest. Getting to this high-altitude cabin is half the fun. Driving up the hill, you literally feel your ears popping from the altitude as you look out over Mount Chocura on the left and Pea Porridge Pond on the right. You know you're in the mountains. Although you're in the heart of the white mountains, you won't need to leave behind all the creature comforts of home. The cabin comes fully equipped: air conditioning, high-speed Wifi access, a printer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, range, DVD/Blue Ray player and DVR and Netflix, Keurig coffee maker, and the best part... a 2nd living room/den so the adults can enjoy some peace and quiet in the great room while the kids do their thing downstairs in the den (which also serves as the 4th bedroom). There is also a propane fire pit in the yard. Once there, take a walk back down the hill to the beach at Pea Porridge Pond where, depending on the season, you can go swimming, kayaking (the house comes with a two-person kayak for unlimited use), or ice skating (bring your own skates). Also, there are enough nearby attractions to keep a family busy any season of the year. The Kangamangus Highway is 5 minutes away, with its hiking/snowshoeing/cross country skiing trails, covered bridges, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks. You can also go downhill skiing at King Pine (15 minutes away), Cranmore (25 minutes), or Attitash/Bear Peak (30 minutes). Right down the road is a Saco River Canoe Company which leads tubing/kayaking/canoeing trips down the Swift River. Snowmobile rentals are nearby. There's even a year-round dogsledding place. Lousy weather? Don't care for the outdoors? Go shopping at the factory outlets in North Conway (10 minutes away), go to the movies, or better yet, check out one the Mount Washington Valley's three theater companies. Or how about the railroad museum? Or Tours of Tuckerman's Brew Company? Have little kids? Take 'em to Santa's Village or Storyland or even the MWV Children's Museum. Have older rambunctious kids who are tired of swimming? How about Monkey Trunks High Rope & Zipline Adventure Park, or take a ride on the Cog Railway, or drive the car up the Mount Washington Auto Road, or take the Snow Cat to the near-top in the winter. (Or believe it or not, hiking up the mountain is not as hard as you think.) Are there mini-golfers in the family? With three nearby mini-golf courses, the MWV is the veritable Hilton Head of mini-golf. The bottom line is that there is so much to do in this area, not even the most hard-to-please, pain-in-the-neck kids will be bored. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact us. We try to respond to all inquiries the same day. Thanks, Rajan & Shrestha Other things to note: If you are visiting in the winter, it would be a good idea if at least one car in your party had 4-wheel drive or a set of dedicated snow tires. It is a steep hill and most of the time, you wouldn't have any trouble getting up it, but if you happen to be coming in the middle of a big snowstorm, you'd need a car that is good in the snow to make it up there. There is space at the bottom of the hill for other cars to park and the 4-wheel drive car can shuttle people up if necessary. We have two exterior cameras: one that points to the front door, and the second on the side of the house facing the driveway. Camera’s do not show anywhere guests may congregate.
