At the age of 16, our son Aidan had the opportunity to serve as a summer volunteer in Thailand, caring for injured and ailing elephants at Friends of the Asian Elephants (FAE) Hospital in the small town of Lampang. In the Mandarin Maven, we have dedicated the TV room to this special hospital. A portion of your stay will go directly to the FAE Hospital. Thank you for helping us save elephants. The Neighborhood: This location is the ideal way to experience some of the best that Albuquerque has to offer! * only 4 blocks from the Zoo, Aquarium, and Tingley Field * 1 mile from downtown Albuquerque, famous Robinson Park, Rio Grande Park, ABQ Country Club, and Tingley Beach * 2 miles from Old Town, UNM, Nob Hill, and ABQ Botanic Gardens Getting Around: Oh the places you'll go! Your comfy spot will be within walking distance from downtown Albuquerque and many other attractions! Driving is very easy in the city and there is plenty of parking so this is always an option if walking isn't your thing. Public transportation is also available. The most common option is Rapid Ride Red Line (Central Avenue) which travels an 11-mile route along Central Avenue from Unser to Louisiana, then north on Louisiana to the Uptown shopping district. The route provides access from the West Side to: BioPark Old Town Downtown Presbyterian Hospital University of New Mexico Nob Hill NM Expo at the State Fairgrounds The new International Market Uptown shopping area There is a Park & Ride lot at each end of the route - one at the Uptown Transit Center and another at Central and Unser. There is no charge to park in any of the Park & Ride lots.
