Summary: Welcome to your sweet & chic getaway at the base of the Rockies in fabulously located Monument! Groups of up to 8 will find stylish, comfortable accommodation with 3 beds and 2 baths, plus 2 separate living areas providing room to spread out. Moments from the junction of highways 25 & 105, you’ll be in the “sweet spot” for access to the area’s most notable attractions including parks, trails, ski slopes, natural wonders, the Air Force Academy, and the urbane offerings of Colorado Springs. The Space: While this home may give the appearance of a cute little cottage, it isn’t quite as “little” as it looks curbside. Its clever split-level design means that you and your companions will have plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable, as well as dedicated spaces for coming together. The large driveway provides ample off-street parking for several vehicles. In front of the home, a charming landscape is enclosed by a picket fence and includes a stone-lined pathway connecting a wooden deck outside the front door, and a flagstone surface where you can easily set out a circle of chairs and play outdoor charades. Stepping inside, you’ll find a coat closet to your left, and on your right, the space opens into a pleasing, contemporary living room with a high, sloped ceiling that seems to echo the character of the surrounding high-altitude terrain. Here, you’ll find an L-shaped sofa and a TV for indoor relaxation. Ascending a half-flight of stairs, you’ll find yourself in a cozy, loft-like kitchen and dining area that overlooks the living room below. A dining table for six shares space with a trendy kitchen with open shelving well-stocked with dishes and glassware. A suite of stainless-steel appliances includes a large refrigerator, range, and dishwasher, plus you’ll enjoy a microwave, double-basin sink, a complete set of chef’s knives, cooking utensils, a stocked spice rack, a coffee maker and tea kettle. Incorporated into the dining and kitchen space is a funky laundry nook with a full-size washer and dryer against a backdrop of geometric tile. The primary bedroom boasts a touch of glamor with a custom paneled feature wall and a king sleigh bed, plus a private bath behind a sliding barn-style door that includes a spacious, glass-enclosed walk-in shower. A second stylish bedroom doubles as an office if you’re working on the road, with an extra-long desk top and abundant shelving above. Here, too, is a cheerful double-size day bed. A third bedroom has been decorated in the industrial style with rustic wood paneling and a unique set of bunkbeds built from iron tubing that sleeps four in individual twin beds. Guests in the smaller two bedrooms share a bath. On the lower level, a cozy family room with a TV is dominated by a delicious, oversized sectional sofa with a built-in chaise overflowing with plump pillows. A door leads from this room to the rear yard, where a sitting area with upscale outdoor furniture sits beneath a lovely pergola. Hotel-grade linens are professionally laundered after every visit. The Neighborhood: This home is located in a picturesque residential neighborhood in beautiful Monument, Colorado. Monument is situated at the base of the eastern front range of the Rocky Mountains, north of Colorado Springs and adjacent to the Pike National Forest. The home is just moments from the junction of highways 25 and 105, providing easy access to the region’s most popular attractions in four directions. These crossroads are also a commercial hub where you’ll find plentiful shopping and dining, including a supermarket and drug store, brewery, and several coffee shops. Meanwhile, downtown Monument charms visitors with its wooden sidewalks and quaint shops and galleries. From around the world, the region draws lovers of outdoor recreation, and opportunities are seemingly endless for hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, rafting, skiing, horseback riding, ziplining and more. In winter, it draws cross-country skiers and snowshoers. It’s also home to the Palmer Lake Recreation Area, 36 acres that include the picturesque lake and a pleasant walking path among the willows (16 minutes). Two of the most popular attractions in the area offer spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime views: The Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, where ancient rock formations tower 300 feet overhead (30 minutes); and Pikes Peak, also known as “America’s Mountain,” with its staggering 14,000-foot summit (38 minutes).
