Charming Rosendale has terrific restaurants and there are three places within 15 minutes that have amazing pizza (according to my Italian wife who is the ultimate pizza snob). There is an early 20th century movie theater from the that shows first run movies for $8.00. We are within an hour of the major Catskill skiing resorts, surrounded by dozens of hiking trails (listed in (Website hidden by Airbnb) and the famous Shawgunk rock climbing mountains. There are two beautiful private acres to roam around in or sit on the deck in Adirondack chairs with your morning coffee or evening wine and watch the parade of deer, wild turkeys, chipmunks and amazing birds (Cardinals, Mourning Doves, Blue Jays, and so many others too numerous to mention). You can savor the stillness or check out the wineries, cideries, antique stores and first rate shopping in Kingston. • Car is best. • Bus: Frequent service (Trailways) from New York City Port Authority to Rosendale.
