It provides the ideal spot for fishing, boating, and enjoying lake life recreation. Boat ramps and ethanol free gas are available on property, along with a jet ski & kayak rental service. Events include seasonal food trucks and fishing tournaments. Bring your boat. Bites and brews are up to you! Amenities include a full bath, a full-sized bed & small futon, efficiency kitchen (complete with coffee pot, microwave, and refrigerator), and TV w DVD player. This cozy studio rental sleeps up to 3 people making it the perfect getaway for yourself, with friends or a small family. Lay Lake is a 12,000-acre reservoir located thirty-five minutes south of Birmingham off I-65. The primary uses for this reservoir are hydroelectric generation and recreation. Lay Lake is the oldest lake on the Coosa, having been created in 1914. It is popular for tournament fishing and boating recreation. Because there are a lot of stumps that were left in Lay Lake when it was built, it is very important to stay within the channel markers on the lake. When heading upstream, keep the red markers to your right. When heading downstream towards Lay Dam, keep the green markers on your right. Other local attractions include DeSoto Caverns, Morgan Creek Winery, Kymulga Grist Mill Park, Old Baker Farm, and Butler-Harris Rainwater Museum. The kitchenette includes refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave, but no stove or dishwasher. Please dispose of food in trash and move to outdoor trashcans daily and keep dishes washed and put away. Any food left out will attract ants so please make sure all food/drinks are sealed well before storing. A TV is provided which currently plays DVD’s only.
