Stop over in Hadrian's Wall county
Hi, I live here in Tyndale in the middle of the hadrian wall country. I have two double bedrooms available. The bedrooms both offer great views of surrounding countryside. I have created over the winter a flickr page where you can see photos of the local area through the seasons, the website is (Website hidden by Airbnb) Interesting things in Tynedale: Local sites include Hadrian’s Wall, Housesteads Roman fort (Vercovicium), Vindolanda Roman fort and museum, Steel Rigg and Cragg Lough. Further afield is Kielder Reservoir and Kielder Observatory. Local activities include rambling (Hadrian’s Path National Trail and the Pennine Way National Trail), rock climbing (High Shield Craggs and Steel Rigg provide perfect bouldering opportunities for competent climbers), bird watching and wildlife (from Old High Shield curlews, owls, and buzzards can be seen and Grindon Lough is a popular spot), cycling (Hadrian’s Cycleway National Route 72, Pennine Cycleway National Route 68, Fishing is also a popular activity and there are plenty of opportunities for trout and salmon fishing on nearby rivers and lakes. The North Tyne is one of the most prolific salmon rivers in England. I have fishing rods and equipment if you wish to borrow them. Most clubs sell day permits to allow visitors the opportunity to give it a go. Also nearby is the beautiful Northumberland coastline with several castles dotted along the coast, they include; Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh. National Trust properties include Cragside House and Gardens, Wallington Hall. How to get here : Southview is located between the two villages of Fourstones and Newbrough (the villages are only ½ mile apart) and it is connected to Hexham (the nearest town) by a bus that runs hourly Monday to Saturday. It takes about 15 mins and is about a 4 mile ride one way. Travelling by car take the exit 2 miles west of Hexham on the A69, signposted to Fourstones and follow this road for approximately 2 miles until you reach the village. As your travelling through the village you’ll pass a petrol station on your left, I am the first house on the right handside past the station. If your travelling by public transport whenever I can I will endeavour to pick you up from Hexham. Here are some useful web links for transport and what to do and see here in Tynedale.
