Rising Sun Guest House is a tastefully restored, 2 bedroom cottage in a picturesque oceanfront setting. 10 minutes to Shelburne for shopping and restaurants. Close to beaches, hiking trails and other outdoor activities. Rising Sun is an elegant ocean front cottage that has been carefully restored in a way that balances old-world charm with a coastal modern style. This charming cottage has a stylish living room with a propane fireplace, satellite TV and comfortable chaise couch and arm chair. The kitchen is fully equipped and designed for entertaining with gourmet cookware and a sunny en-suite dining room with views of the bay. Just off the kitchen there is a separate office space with internet and a 2 piece powder room. Decorated with original art works and painted in muted shades with white trim the rooms are crisp and clean and bright. A French patio door leads from the kitchen to the garden where you will find a Teak dining set and propane BBQ. Rising Sun sleeps 4 people comfortably in two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed while the second bedroom has two twin beds. Both bedrooms are simply furnished with bedside tables, chests of drawers and closets. The master bedroom has views of the bay. The main bathroom – a 4 piece with a claw foot tub and shower combination and the washer and dryer are also on this floor. Coastal living couldn't be better! Rising Sun Guest House is located on the western side of Jordan Bay, just a 10 minute drive from the town of Shelburne. Set well back from the road, there is a large garden with a winding path that leads from the lawn down to the rocky shoreline. Here you will find massive granite boulders and lapping waves. Lay out a towel and sunbathe, take a dip in a sheltered swimming spot just offshore, or go for a walk along the shore by hopping from boulder to boulder. If you are lucky, you may just spot some seals playing in the harbour. It is about a 10 minute dive to the closest town of Shelburne. Shelburne is known for its museums, bars and restaurants, theatre and gorgeous natural harbour. Shelburne hosts number of festivals throughout the year. Founders Days in July is a popular event as is the Whirligig Festival in September. There are plenty of beaches in the area to explore: the nearest is the Sandy Point Lighthouse beach. Carleton Village and Roseway Beach are within a 25 minute drive to the west; while Lockeport, Louis Head Beaches are about 35 minutes to the east. A little further afield are the Kejimukjik Seaside Adjunct and Carters beach. Liverpool, Lunenburg, Chester and Mahone Bay are all within an hour and 20 minutes’ drive to the east, while Barrington, Cape Sable Island and Yarmouth are an hour and 10 minutes in the other direction. There is no public transport, so to really explore the South Shore you will need your own vehicle. There is parking on site. It is a 2-hour drive to Halifax International Airport and 1.25 hours to the ferry terminal in Yarmouth. Rising Sun has a maximum occupancy limit of 4 guests. Any more – even it is visitors for the day, must be approved prior to arrival. There is a set of towels (Beach, Bath, Hand & two face cloths) supplied for each guest. A washer and dryer is available and can be used if you need to refresh the linens. There is a smart TV (no cable or satellite TV). Guests can access their personal streaming services e.g. Netflix, Disney+ on the TV. Internet is available at the home. Details will be provided in your welcome package.
