A tranquil and picturesque 20 acre family rural retreat set among rolling hills in a secluded valley. Commanding scenic views over the property , the comfortable 3 bedroom 2 bathroom main home and 2 bedroom 1 bathroom cottage have all modern conveniences. Only 45 minutes from Melbourne CBD and 10 minutes to Berwick Village with its cafes, restaurants, supermarkets etc. Play tennis, wander around the farm or relax in the outdoor area and enjoy the fresh rural air, peace and tranquility. The home compound including tennis court, extensive lawned areas / gardens and long driveway is fully fenced. The property is divided into a number of paddocks used for grazing of cows and offspring. There are a significant number of mature native trees on the fence lines and in gullies and also a large dam on the property. The property is frequented by many species of native bird, wallabies, wombats and occasionally deer and fox. The dam attracts water birds and ducks. Given the rural setting, the area offers plenty of scope for hiking and cycling. The cooler months are our favourite time to stay. The property is green and lush and the wood fires make for a very cosy experience. Guests have access to the main home (up to 6 guests), the cottage (up to an additional 4 guests) tennis court and gardens. You are welcome to enter the paddocks (EXCLUDING those containing cattle) but PLEASE close gates upon entering and exiting paddocks. Boots are available for guest use. Parents are advised to monitor children closely if they enter the paddock containing the dam (the fencing around the dam is NOT childproof) and near cattle troughs. Tennis racquets and balls are available for guest use. Also a set of boules. There are 2 spacious horse stables and dressage arena on the property that could be available by prior arrangement only. There is a gas barbecue available for guest use (gas provided). Wood is provided for burning in the wood heaters. All bedrooms have reverse cycle air conditioning. Guests will be greeted by our knowledgeable representative who will brief them on the property and answer any questions during their stay. Harkaway is a small rural enclave in a "green wedge" zone within the Melbourne metropolitan area. Set in rolling hills it comprises a small village (general store/cafe, school, meeting hall) surrounded by a few houses but is largely comprised of small rural holdings. It is a truly special place. Some local attractions that you might be interested in visiting during your stay include: Emerald Puffing Billy Emerald Bakery – very popular breakfast place especially on Sundays Wilson Botanical Garden, Berwick Old Cheese factory, Berwick Cardinia Reservoir Park Public golf courses nearby include - Cardinia Beaconhills Berwick Montuna Churchill Park Uber is generally available to/from the property. There is a rail service from Melbourne to Berwick (a 10 minute drive from the property). Otherwise private transport will be necessary to access the property. In the current circumstances we are extra vigilant when it comes to the cleanliness of the property. We follow Airbnb guidelines on cleaning which have been issued in view of "the virus". All hard surfaces. door handles etc are thoroughly cleaned. Bedding including mattress and pillow protectors are laundered with a sanitiser after each group of guests. Carpets are regularly cleaned and sanitised. The house and cottage are thoroughly aired after each group of guests and there is a minimum of 2 days maintained between groups (most times much longer). Water to the home is rainwater captured from building roofs and stored in tanks on the property. Whilst there is more than adequate storage for normal rates of usage, we ask that guests bear this in mind and avoid excessive usage of this critical natural resource. All water used in the home is filtered.
