Secluded pleasant apartment in the middle of an olive grove, offering wonderful Sea and Mountain views. You will love watching the beautiful sunset over Taygetos mountain and the Laconic gulf from the terrace, while sipping a glass of local wine. Location The house is situated within walking distance (1,7 Km) of the harbor and picturesque fishing village of Elea (or Elia) in Laconia. Built in the middle of an olive grove, it offers an exceptional view to the Laconic gulf, the Mani peninsula and the Taygetos mountain. The garden and olive grove is fully fenced (6.000 sq. meters), well off the main road Elea – Molaoi. It is accessed by a 300 meters track to an electric gate. It is situated 8 Km away from Molaoi, the seat of the municipality and 30 Km from the medieval city of Monemvasia. The distance from Athens is 290 Km (3½ hours drive), from Kalamata airport 150 Km (2 hours) and from Sparta 58 Km (50 minutes). Apartment highlights The apartment has 2 rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. The first room is a 17 m² bedroom furnished with a queen-size bed (160 cm wide), 2 nightstands, a wall-size wardrobe, a table and 2 chairs. The second room is a 25,5 m² Suite comprised of two separate areas (sleeping and sitting). The sleeping area of the Suite is furnished with 2 single beds (forming one king-size bed, 180 cm wide, when joined), 1 nightstand, a wardrobe, a closet and 1 drawer-cabinet. A fireplace and a built-in coach are in the sitting area, furnished with a sofa bed (140 cm wide when opened), a coffee table and chairs. Both rooms are equipped with ceiling fans (operated via remote control), smoke detectors and TV sets and room-darkening shades. The kitchen is fully equipped with side-by-side refrigerator, electric stove with oven, kettle, kitchenware, silverware, dishes, glasses, pots, etc, and, furnished with sink, floor & wall cabinets, drawers and kitchen hood over the stove. Also the bathroom has a shower, toilet, washbasin on a cabinet and a wall-cabinet with outside mirror over the washbasin. All the outside doors and windows of the flat have fly-screens. Both rooms can reach a private veranda, furnished with dining table, a large built in coach and armchairs. They may also use the main terrace (about 70 m²), located between the house and the BBQ facilities, with various seating areas. A big olive tree shades the main terrace while other local species of trees, plants and flowers surround the area. Upon arrival we will provide our guests a complete list of activities and interesting areas to visit. We know well and we love the area. Depending on your special interests and wants, we will be happy to suggest the right places for you to visit. We will also be happy to join and show you around, as well as provide transportation from and to the airports of Athens and Kalamata, arrangements for car rental, organization of daily tours, cleaning services, daily cooking services (upon arrangement for an additional cost). Our neighborhood: Not being a resort area, it offers a traditional way of life with lovely beaches and tasty local food in reasonable prices. In the village of Elea you can find tavernas and restaurants that serve from traditional dishes to elegant cuisine and cafés, as well as a small supermarket, a mini market and a bakery. The beaches of Elea (2 Km), Viandini (1,5 Km) and Tigania (4 Km) are equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds. There are also cafés & tavernas there. A bit further is the beach of Bozas (10 Km) after the village of Asopos, with shade under the armirikia trees and the “Bozas” taverna. The nearby neighborhood: 8 Km away is Molaoi, the seat of the municipality of Monemvasia. There you can find almost everything, from all kinds of retail shops, including mobiles, clothes, shoes, glasses and big supermarkets, as well as a hospital, banks, pharmacies, cafés & tavernas and many more. The traditional Watermill in the village of Talanta, 26 Km to the East. The medieval city and fortress of Monemvasia (a must see place), 30 Km to the East. Plytra (14 Km) with ancient ruins in the sea, beautiful sandy beaches, cafés and tavernas, as well as the colorful fishing village of Arhangelos (20 Km), with beautiful sandy beaches, cafés and tavernas to the SE. The greater area: The cute port of Gerakas with the lagoon (40 Km) and the colorful village of Kyparissi (40 Km) to the NE. Elafonissos islet with its famous beach of Simos (45 Km) and Pavlopetri the oldest submerged city in the world, in the straight between Pounta and Elafonissos, as well as the Kastania cave (64 Km), Neapolis city (52 Km), cape Maleas and more to the SE. Sparta and the Byzantine city of Mystras are 60 Km away to the North. Gythio, the entrance to the Mani peninsula, is 42 Km away, and the famous Diros Caves (76 Km) and the Cave of Hades at Cape Tenaro, the southest edge of continental Europe (106 Km) to the SW. Free parking in the property is available. There is no parking problem in our neighborhood and in the nearby neighborhood, as well as in the greater area, whereas most parking areas are available for free. Public transportation to/from Sparta and Athens is available from Molai (many scheduled routes throughout the day, every day). Taxis are also available.
