Welcome home to your one of a kind idyllic Tuscan paradise in the Mt Gambier countryside where you will find the time to immerse yourself in its wonderful peace and quiet. Be infused with fresh energy as the magical serenity of this Garden of Eden washes over you. You’ll relish feeling all of the stress and tension of your journey just melting away. A haven of tranquility with a pool, a rustic tennis court, no noisy neighbours and a feeling of time and space, so hard to find these days. The shared lush, manicured gardens are the perfect place to enjoy a delicious breakfast with the sound of birdsong serenading you, whilst in the company of a kangaroo or two, munching on their breakfasts in the distance. You’ll be forgiven for thinking that you have magically been whisked away to the Italian countryside, (with the odd inclusion of kangaroos!) Between the hammock and the many fairy tale nooks and crannies, you will find endless idyllic spots to sit and read or blissfully doze under the dappled shade of the many trees scattered throughout the grounds. Here every day feels like a lazy, old-fashioned Sunday. The beautiful blue pool is big and is perfect for a refreshing dip after a long, hot drive. Please note that there is only solar heating for the pool, and in this part of the world that means sometimes the water can be a little bracing, but still wonderfully refreshing. The pool is shared with other guests but it is big and lots of fun. Please no diving as there isn’t a deep end. The rustic tennis court is great for a bit of a run around and is a lot of fun. The court is not near championship standards, so don't expect too much, but racquets and (used) balls are available. The property is bounded by cool, scented pine forests. In the area are many wonderful attractions including the fascinating Tantanoola Caves just a short drive away, as well as the beautiful and famous Blue Lake where you can try your hand at scuba-diving in the azure waters. There is also Lake Bonney for those who’d like to try a spot of fishing or boating and along the coast road to the east you will find the Twelve Apostles, less than a three and a half hour drive away. To the south is Port Macdonnell on the coast which is renowned for its delicious rock lobster and fishing boat charters. Feel invigorated after a restful night in our little piece of heaven, the gently tinkling fountain dotted around the park-like grounds will gently soothe you so that you’re refreshed and ready to head off on the next leg of your journey. (We’d suggest you plan on staying a little longer though, as all who visit here fall in love with the place and wish they could stay longer!) Here at home we have authentic pizza ovens should you wish to try your hand at whipping up a traditional home-made pizza, a bbq to enjoy al-Fresco meals, as well as full cooking facilities in the beautiful slate-floored kitchen. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise, once you are here you’ll never want to leave. The main house sleeps six, and for up to two additional guests there is another bedroom adjacent to the main house just a few steps away with two single beds, so we can accept groups of up to eight people. The additional bedroom is in the undercover patio area shared with the main house. Please see the last two photos in the listing to see the bedroom as well as its position relative to the main house. Best place to park... After you’ve entered the driveway, go past the first turn to the right, continue straight a little further, then take the next right into the carport. (In case it rains) Sophie is our caretaker who live in a far corner of the property. Sophie can be reached in an emergency or if you need help with anything. Apart from that, you won’t see her unless she is tending to something in the grounds. During your stay you will find every convenience you might need. Glencoe is just an 8 minute drive away for last minute essentials. The Tantanoola Caves are a 6 minute drive from the house along the Princes Highway towards Millicent. It’s a 20 minute drive to Mt Gambier should you wish to venture into town or try out some of the restaurants nearby. You’ll discover lovely bits of history, beautiful volcanic lakes where you can BBQ, picnic, fish, boat, windsurf or jet ski. There are some beautiful walking trails and also horse trail riding on selected days. At the Mt Gambier Visitors Centre, journey back in time with a story - telling hologram and experience a virtual reality cave dive. The Coonawarra Wine Region just outside Penola, produces wines of fantastic balance and richness, due to long cool ripening periods. It’s a 50 minute drive to the beginning of the wine route from the house. There is also a 5km walking trail which ambles through 6 wineries, guiding you through history and viticulture. The walking trail takes approx 3 hours to complete. 5 out of the 6 wineries on the trail are open 7 days a week, and you'll be warmly welcomed for tastings or refreshments. For those traveling, we are perfectly positioned between Melbourne and Adelaide in the ideal spot for you to take a well-deserved break on your travels. The pool is great fun, however as it is an indoor pool there is echo and as a result louder noise travels. We respectfully ask that you do not scream and shout, and ask that you help us to preserve the tranquility of the property, which is what makes it such a special place. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this regard. **Please note** THE POOL CLOSES AT 9PM. **Please note**THE POOL CLOSES FOR WINTER ON THE 12TH OF APRIL** Guests are supplied with a complimentary crate of firewood each day, if you would like more then it is available at $12 per crate. You are also welcome to bring your own wood we will show you where to store it.
