The Buttery at The Old Manse -real old-world charm
The Buttery is a self-contained suite of rooms with a separate entrance within The Old Manse, a Grade 2 star listed house dating from 1490 in the centre of the pretty village of Beckington. The front door opens into a quaint kitchen / dining room, equipped with cooker, microwave and washing machine. A winding passage leads to the bedroom / sitting room with king-sized bed, sofa, Wifi and flat screen TV. There is easy parking on the street and a shared garden accessed through the main house. The carefully renovated 1930's kitchen gives the space a quirky authentic feel. We've added pieces of brass and pewter to complete to the country atmosphere. Don't miss the books and games in the glass fronted cupboards, if you're short of something to do in the evenings! The sweet little bathroom has an electric shower and the rooms are centrally heated throughout. Walk through the main house hall to reach the garden and explore it at your leisure. In the Summer, the courtyard is a sun trap in the mornings and is the perfect place to relax over a morning cup of coffee. Mike and I live upstairs. Don't hesitate to call up the stairs if you have a problem. Alternatively, call or text Jennie's mobile. Award winning cafe "Mes Amis" is next door and there are two pubs that provide excellent pub grub in the village within walking distance. The BP garage on the edge of the village has an excellent M & S convenience store - but don't miss the award winning Beckington Farm Shop, with cafe and take away fish and chip shop. Frome, offering trendy cafes, Gastro pubs and a monthly artisan Sunday market is 3 miles away. Bath is a 12 mile drive. Mystical Glastonbury Tor, providing stunning views across the Somerset Levels and the beautiful cathedral city of Wells are close by. To the east, there's Longleat House, and the iron age forts - Cley Hill and Westbury White Horse. All well worth a visit! Further on, there's Salisbury, resplendent with its magnificent cathedral and sculpture garden.
