A charming, luxurious self contained wooden lodge nestled between trees and hidden away in the grounds of Compton Durville’s 17th Century Manor House. Located just outside the village of South Petherton in the heart of South Somerset, minutes away from the A303. First built in 1937 as a Cricket Pavilion to commemorate the coronation of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth. It was later home to Sisters of the Community of St Francis and rebuilt in 2021 after being decimated by an oak tree in 2018. The newly built space is light and bright & perfectly suited for two, the property includes newly fitted kitchen / TV sitting room (with log burner), modern bath & shower room + WC, double bedroom, private garden, outdoor terrace, BBQ & dining area. Travel cot/camp bed available on request for couples with children. The kitchen includes electric hob, combination oven/grill, fridge, kettle, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine & dryer. There is a spacious garden to the rear of the Hermitage overlooking a private wildflower meadow which flowers beautifully from Spring to Summer. Private parking & bike racks with wash station for cyclists are also available on site. No detail has been overlooked to ensure this is a perfect holiday home for your countryside break. Access to the Hermitage is off Shapway down a private driveway. Guests have the parking space directly outside the Hermitage. From here it is a few steps through a private gate to the front door. The Hermitage is located in Compton Durville which is a small timeless hamlet located just outside the village of South Petherton in the South Somerset district of Somerset, England, located 5 miles (8 km) east of Ilminster and 5 miles (8 km) north west of Crewkerne. The hamlet is in walking distance of both South Petherton which has a number of shops, cafes, pub & restaurants, & Shepton Beauchamp which is reachable over public footpaths through neighbouring Meadowlea Farm. Access to the Hermitage is off Shapway down a private driveway. Guests have the parking space directly outside the Hermitage. There are numerous public footpaths nearby which make for some lovely walks. The rolling hills and flat plains have made the area a popular destination for cyclists. Small dogs/cats are allowed subject to £30 fee per dog/cat & Max 1 pet. Payment is now taken by Airbnb at time of reservation. However all pets must be pre approved prior to your reservation. Please include the breed & weight of your pet when you inquire. Pets must be up to date on their vaccinations. If unapproved pets are detected on site this may result in immediate termination of your reservation and/or loss of your security deposit.
