I offer a traditional Bed & Breakfast experience for the weary traveler or the explorers of all that the Rideau, Frontenac, Cataraqui and Lanark Highlands have to offer. A comfortable bed with quality linens and a fresh home-cooked breakfast made from local food growers and producers. Did I mention fresh baked muffins and fabulous coffee? The the decor is taken straight from the surrounding area with photographs of local birds and wildlife as well as window treatments with nature images. Westport is an exceptionally pretty village with everything you need within walking distance including interesting shops, a winery and brew pub. The village has a reputation of having fabulous music scene and live music is to be found everyday from Wednesday to Sunday, even in the off season. Westport is home of the Blues on the Rideau concert series and the Westport Music Festival. The village is located between Sand Lake and Upper Rideau Lake at the foot of Foley Mountain Conservation area and the view from Spy Rock overlooking this quaint village is spectacular any time of year. Lots of outdoor activities to be found including hiking, biking, canoe or kayaking. There are 2 well kept beaches for swimming. With so many lakes, boating is a great way to explore the locks if the historical Rideau Waterway. The area is known for great bass and walleye fishing on a choice of lakes. The fall colours, bird migrations in fall and spring are something to see. Winter activities include skating, x-country skiing, hiking or just chilling. Wildlife to look out for include deer, mink, muskrats, otters, bald eagles, ospreys, mute swans, great blue herons, turkey vultures and so many more making this area a photographer's dream. Food and beverages are also big in this area. From artisanal cheese to cannabis infused chocolate. I can arrange a tour if you like. There are several breweries, a distillery, winery and Tweed Cannabis Visitor Centre. What's your pleasure? A 15-minute walk will connect you with the Rideau Trail and trails throughout Foley Mountain Conservation Area. The nearby Cataraqui trail is lovely for walking or biking as it is an old rail line. The beach on Sand Lake is maintained by the local Lions Service Club and Westport harbour is on the historical Rideau Canal waterway. There are many driving routes to visit nearby towns and villages such as historic Perth (20 min drive) or the many little outposts at every lock along the Rideau Canal. The roads in any direction are very pretty but can be a little dangerous. Watch out for wildlife and please stop for turtles.
