This cheerful 1 bedroom apartment in the center of the Village of Kinderhook is a perfect weekend retreat. Indulge in our library of books, board games, and teas. Rest and relax among comfy, new furniture and appliances, including a washer&dryer, and hi-speed wifi. Farmers' market, art galleries, beer&cheese bar all steps from your door. Bring your bikes for the nearby Rails-to-Trails and pick your own veggies/fruits at the Orchards. Need anything else? Just shout! We live nearby! This is an ideal apartment for a couple or single adult and up to three children. In the bedroom, you'll find a queen bed. In the living room, we have a sofa big enough for a child to sleep on, a twin air mattress, and a twin pull-out bed. The kitchen features spanking new appliances (oven, stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker), foundational cooking ingredients (salt, pepper, oil, spices, coffee), and basic equipment you'd need to cook (cooking pots, pans, baking dishes) although you'll probably spend the weekend dining at some of the great local restaurants and not in the kitchen! We'll provide a list of our favorite restaurants when you arrive. There is one bathroom with a stand-up shower and a washer and dryer. We provide shampoo, conditioner, soap and laundry detergent. The living room has a sofa and a dining table. We have great wifi that you're welcome to stream on. But please note that, to encourage R&R, we have decided not to furnish the apartment with a tv. Driving? Free parking on the street in front of the apartment and free EV charging across the street. Training it? Take Amtrak from Penn Station to Hudson then it's about a 20 minute taxi ride to Kinderhook. Once you're here, you can walk/bike most places in the Village, including the art galleries, farmers market, beer&cheese bar, vegetable orchard, Rails-to-Trails. But, if you have a car, you'll also be able to visit other great local attractions like The Berry Farm Cidery, Hudson's Warren Street, Olanna Historic Site, and Art Omi Sculpture Garden, all within a 25 minute drive of Kinderhook. We will meet you on arrival day with keys at the front of the building. For COVID safety, we won't go up to the apartment with you but will be nearby if you have any questions or need anything additional. Please leave your keys in the apartment and lock the door on departure day. I am available for all questions/concerns prior and during your stay. The Village of Kinderhook, the historic center of the greater Town of Kinderhook, enjoys significant historic resources, " outstanding both for the quantity and quality of 18th and 19th century structures still present. Twentieth century intrusions are minimal at the heart of the district and for the greater part of its outer reaches. The visual character of the community is therefore unusually "historical."' With ample sidewalks, the Village is enjoyable to walk. Sleepy on the weekdays, the Villages livens up on the weekends when commuters, second home owners, and vacationers are in town. An agricultural community, the Fall is a particularly delightful time to visit, when the orchards are full of every kind of apple (I promise you didn't know most of them existed!). Some of the quaint local traditions to catch include the annual reading of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in the Village Square every Halloween (keep an eye out for the Headless Horsemen); Saturday Farmers' Markets; The Columbia Historical Society's Annual "First Columbians Soiree" at the James Vanderpoel 'House of History'; and December Nights. Get around the Village on foot or bike. Bring a car to see a wider range of attractions. There is free street parking and free charging for electric vehicles near the apartment. Please note that our apartment is up a flight of carpeted stairs that may be difficult to navigate for those with trouble walking up steps or balancing. This is also not a great pick for small children or babies as the apartment is (as mentioned) upstairs without a child guard and has not been child-proofed.
