We are located in a private estate set amongst 3 lakes, all can have non motorised boats, kayaks, canoes, lasers, paddle boards on them. Fishing - A choice of 3 lakes to fish, catches subject to the time of year. Golf - A choice of two courses the local South Cerney course or Wraggs Barn only 20 minutes drive. As part of the larger Cotswolds Water Park area, there are numerous other lakes to explore. The adjacent lake is for all types of dinghies, sail boats, paddle boards for rent and for lessons. The lake next to that one is Spring Lake which has a great Sports bar/brasserie with motorised boats for waterskiing, tubing, and wakeboarding. Lessons and for hire. The famous Cotswold Country Park with its own actual beach, is great to visit and only a few minutes drive away. Close by is the Cotswold De Vere Hotel, with all their amenities, it also has an adjacent cafe and deck overlooking another beautiful lake. All of the Cotswolds is set amongst beautiful countryside, and this area is no exception. The walks just surrounding the lodge are endless, with paths winding in, out and around the 30 plus lakes. The wildlife is fantastic, different to our normal countryside wildlife as so many species are linked to the waterside environment. So much to do and so many options, you really don’t need to go out in your car if you don’t want to. If you do want to venture outside of the estate just a 20 min walk leads to the local village, with small supermarket, post office, pharmacy, Indian Takeaway, Fish and Chip shop and great local pubs. Dining has endless options, we will leave a guide with all our favourites! Local Attractions Cirencester, The Capital of the Cotswolds is a 5 min drive - a quintessential Cotswold Town, it’s original name was Corinium during Roman times! Go visit the Corinium Museum on the High Street. We love Cirencester, not just for its history and architecture, and the most beautiful church, which is the size of a cathedral, St John The Baptist. Fabulous cobbled streets to wander around, with lovely shops both familiar, Boots, WH Smith, Crew, Fat Face, alongside local artisan art and craft shops, and local jewellery makers, unique quirky boutiques, galleries and specialist stores, and a wonderful antique shop, which looks small from the outside but it’s a tardis! Cirencester has a lovely hotel in the market square where we always take friends for a cocktail or afternoon tea. The Brewery Arts Centre is not a place to drink beer, but a lovely collection of art, ceramics, jewellery. All local artists. It has a great little cafe, worthwhile popping in! Markets-Cirencester The Corn Hall Indoor Market - love this place, a great indoor area, with one of my favourite brasseries Made By Bob, some great clothes boutiques and an indoor market, crafts, or antiques, day dependant. Of course being a market town the weekly markets are worth a visit! Especially Friday morning when the Grimsby Fish Man appears, with the catch of the day, so you never know what’s on offer. The Charter Market on Monday’s and Friday’s is one of the oldest in the country, mentioned in the Domesday Book. The Farmers Market on Saturdays and the Arts and Crafts Market are on the first Saturday of each month. Cirencester Park - 15 mins A fabulous park where you can walk for hours, home to the Cirencester Polo Club. Further afield - 20 mins Bibury - voted one of the most picturesque English villages. The only village around which does have the tourists. However it really does warrant a visit as it’s a quintessentially English village. Bibury has their very own Trout Farm, where you can sit and sample the fish, along with the delicious home made Cotswold Ice Cream, (not actually together Heston Blumental hasn’t quite made it to Bibury!) Great place to bring the kids, or even grown up kids as you can fish for your own trout. There’s also a little shop where you can purchase if you don’t fancy catching your own. I often drop by to pick some up, they do all the hard work of preparation and you can even buy it already marinaded in Thai spices (again a favourite of ours). Lower Moor Farm - Nature Reserve - 9mins Elemental Sculpture Park - 9mins Rodmarton Manor - Arts and Crafts with guided tours - 20mins Chedworth Roman Villa - 25mins Abbey House Garden 16th Century - 25 mins Cirencester Amphitheatre - 13mins Further afield Cheltenham - 25mins Westonbirt Arboretum - 30mins Bourton on the water - 30mins Stow on the Wold - 33 mins Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens - 32mins Burford - 30mins Bath - 45 mins There are plenty of wonderful walks, cycle hire and a good local bus service. There are a number of taxis available if you don't have a car. Please check with us first if your booking is not on a Saturday to Saturday basis.
