Doonbank Cottage Bothy

Whether you're looking for a one night business stopover, a couple of nights to attend a wedding at the Brig O'Doon, or a self catering holiday break, Doonbank Cottage's Bothy offers an exclusive, flexible & private accommodation. The Bothy is a beautifully presented & spacious, one bed detached house. Set in 4 acres of woodland on the banks of the River Doon & forming part of Doonbank Cottage's woodland garden, it is a very peaceful and quiet location. One (medium sized) dog allowed. The bothy sleeps two adults. We also have a free cot for under 2s and (on request) a separate single fold-a-way bed for an under 10 year old (additional £10 per night). Downstairs we also have a sofa bed. As well as having access to the woodland and river, it also has it's own private back garden and patio area with BBQ to relax in. Situated in the picturesque village of historic Alloway in Ayrshire, a 10 minute walk to the world famous Brig O'Doon, Burns National Heritage Centre, the Brig O' Doon Hotel and Burns Cottage. On the edge of the main town of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland, the Bothy has glorious views over the idyllic River Doon, which runs for half a mile as the property's eastern boundary, offering excellent opportunities for bird watching and riverside walks after a busy day. Guests have a very spacious parking area next to the Bothy. Our 7kW EV charger is also available to guests for a fixed one off cost, which means you don't have to hunt out charge points or waste valuable holiday time waiting for your vehicle to charge! Book on arrival With the peace and tranquility of the countryside - yet only an 5 minute drive from the centre of Alloway with access to local shops and other amenities. This is also the location of Burns Cottage and the Burns Museum etc. There are local buses and stops within a 5 minute walk. However, a car will always be more useful to get around. Guests have their own dedicated parking which is safe and secure. If driving, Ayr town centre is just an 8 minute drive away; Glasgow, 45 mins. The train station is an 8 minute drive. We also currently run a 'wonderful world of the honey bee' experience, which you can book through AirBNB. We also have an unteathered 7kw EV charger available to guests for a one off fee.
