Dog friendly retreat near Peaks and Uni
My dog friendly place is perfect for parents of uni students with a pooch! On the Peak District (near the Cote de Bradfield!'), with stunning walks/cycling/running/open water swimming on the door step. Only 5 mins to the park n ride tram at Hillsborough, which is just 10 mins to the University and city centre, and 8 mins to the real ale dog-friendly pubs and independent eateries at Kelham Island. My house is a cozy mid terrace, with great open views over the Loxley Valley. It's not huge but perfect for one or two people and a dog, and its elevated position gives a feeling of light and calmness that I love. In winter, get cozy, in summer chill out in the hammock under the apple tree. There's a garden front and back. The house is the house I live in, so will have everything you need but I've just gone freelance, so looking for extra ways to make cash and can vacate whenever you want to stay! You will have access to the whole house except the little bedroom and a cupboard under the stairs where I'll keep my stuff. The house includes: x 1 double bedroom with a super comfortable memory foam double bed x 1 living room with Sky telly (standard package, sorry don't have sports package though!) Wifi Electric piano, cajon Sofa to watch the big skies Loads of books (please read any, but some have sentimental value so please don't take with you). CD player. Kitchen with easy to use electric hob, decent oven, all kitchen equipment you need, kitchen table x 1 Bathroom with bath and shower overhead (please be careful not to flood the bathroom!) x 1 hammock. Front and back private garden with small bistro table for drinks. Tea, coffee, sugar. Bedding supplied, but please bring your own towels and milk. The house is the house I live in and love, but I'll be staying close by, so if you need anything, just shout! I can be as involved or distant as you want. I'm from Sheffield originally and want people to see the best of our wonderful city and the surrounding Peak District national park, so I'd be happy to meet you and tell you the best places to go, whatever you need! The house is in Sheffield in Loxley (as in Robin of Loxley - Robin Hood -allegedly was born just down the road - little known fact) Loxley is a great place as you can walk straight out into stunning country side into the Peak District, but it's also just a short tram ride to the city centre, the University (10 mins on the tram) and the real ale mecca and independent eateries of Kelham Island. If you're into real ale, I can give you info on the Real Ale Trail. Most of the pubs allow dogs too (I have a great walk to a proper locals pub - The Nags Head, where you can get a pie with a fee pint of the locally brewed 'Farmers' ale for a 7quid! Kelham Island museum is a great visit too, particularly for anyone interested in the industrial revolution and Sheffield's steel heritage. Many people come out here to Loxley and the parish of Bradfield to cycle, run, walk (and even swim - I love open water swimming so can give tips on where to go if this is your bag!) I have lots of walks mapped out, including a nice 8k walk to the beautiful village of Bradfield (or Cote de Bradfield as it was known in the tour de France). The house is less than a mile from Dam Flask reservoir, which has a sailing club and is a fave for runners and cyclists. Drive a little further past Dam flask to visit quieter reservoirs of Agden, Dale Dyke, Strines and Derwent. Just behind the house is the beautiful Loxley Common which is crammed with Silver Birches planted originally to use in Sheffield's thriving steel industry. From the first Sunday after armistice day and then every Sunday until boxing day, recommend you walk to the Royal Hotel Pub in Dungworth (a stunning 4k walk from the house) to experience the sound of Sheffield local carols. It gets RAMMED though, so you'll need to set off walking at about 10am if you want to get in. I can supply you with the words to many of the carols and a CD with the tunes on too - just don't tell anyone as it'll be seen as cheating. A walk home in the snow after the sing and several pints of Yorkshire Farmers strongly recommended as a warm up to Christmas! It's a quiet suburban area - absolutely no parties allowed - and please respect my neighbours! Access to the house is up the stairs and past the front window of my neighbours. Please keep the gates closed and don’t stare in at their windows! The road in front of the house is wide and easy to park on. There are steps up to the house, so it may be a bit tricky for wheelchair or buggy access (but not impossible if you have several people to lift). Although on the outskirts of the peak district national park, Loxley is also only a 5 min drive or bus ride to the tram stop at Malin Bridge (Hillsborough). There is a park and ride here with parking at just £1 a day. You can pay for parking when you return via the machine. You get a tram ticket from the conductor when you get on the tram. Ridiculously, dogs are not allowed on the tram. But we are working on this! It takes just 10 mins on the tram to the University roundabout and city centre, and just 8 mins to Shalesmoor stop which is the best stop to get off and explore Kelham Island and the real ale pubs and independent eateries it has to offer. It's a two bed house, but one room will have my stuff in it so isn’t accessible. There is a right of way across the front of the house which neighbours and the postie uses. Please don't leave your dog unattended in the property. As this is my home, it's good to know a bit about you before making the booking. I’ve recently had a bad experience with a guest so will now only accept guests with a completed profile and positive reviews. If you have only just joined air b n b, please share some info about yourself and we can take it from there! Thanks and hope to see you soon!
