Trip Advisor Awarded Certificate of Excellence for 2017, 2018 & 2019. Bluebell Cottage, a beautiful 'adults only' cosy cottage set within stunning woodland with riverside access for fishing. Peaceful and quiet but not isolated. Ideal for lovers of the countryside, walkers or for a romantic break! Within walking distance of country pubs, nearest just 5 mins walk. Wortley village a few mins drive or 30 min walk. 10 mins drive to the M1 motorway Electric gates provide secure access to the cottage. Modern kitchen, including built in fridge/freezer and washer/dryer and concealed led cabinet lighting. Outside night lights including brick lights surrounding the cottage, festoon lights along the path to riverside and fairy lights in the back garden The 'bedroom' is an open plan mezzanine area/bed deck with a king size bed. The bed deck has a restricted height of approx 5ft 8in. at the highest point which doesn't prevent taller people sleeping on the bed deck, it just means you need to stoop a little. Please note due to the riverside access and steep space saver stairs, this cottage is unsuitable for the infirm. Electric central heating throughout, (hence no carbon monoxide detector). Woodland and garden views from all aspects. Owners live just a few minutes away and always have mobile phones in case guests need to contact them. Area... Wortley village is just a few minutes drive. You could cycle, or why not walk along the many picturesque routes into the village (approx 30 minutes - partly up hill - less on the way down!) Home to Wortley Hall, an 18th century country mansion set with 26 acres which holds regular events, has beautiful gardens, a restaurant and a bar. The Wortley Arms Pub and restaurant has a choice of pub meals, fine dining, real ales and a roaring fire. Wortley Mens Club has a choice of real ales and cider, Sky TV and full size snooker table. Also within the village is a post office/general store/newsagent which also supplies cycle hire . A farm shop in the village centre produces award winning pies, sausages, burgers and much more. A vintage gift shop and the Countess tea-rooms are well worth a visit as is the local church - St Leonards, just across the road from the tea-rooms. For golf lovers, the beautiful Wortley golf course is a must. Many other golf courses within 10 miles are easily accessible within the local area. 5 minutes walk from the cottage is Wortley Top Forge Museum - the oldest surviving heavy iron forge in the world!. Also just a 5 minute riverside walk from the cottage is the local public house - The Bridge Inn, serving real ales and pub food with a weekly quiz night. The local area is very popular with walkers and cyclists with the Trans Pennine Trail just a 5 minute cycle ride or 10 minute stroll from the cottage. Wharncliffe woods mountain bike route is just a few minutes cycle ride away too. Horse riding lessons and pony treks are available within just a 3 minute drive or 15 minutes walk. For the perfect family day out, Cannon Hall has an adventure playground, Bistro, farm shop, animals, beautiful gardens, and much more all only a 15 minute drive from the cottage. The market town of Penistone is just a 10 minute drive away and is the highest market town in the county. One of Yorkshire's best kept secrets and well worth a visit is the award winning Cruck Barn - the largest publicly accessible oak framed building in England and holds the Retail and Country Market every Thursday and a farmers market on the second Saturday of every month. Beautiful Wentworth village is just 8 miles away with pubs, Bistro, garden centre and featuring Wentworth Woodhouse country house - with the largest frontage of any country house in the UK. A very popular area for visitors who love the rural lifestyle yet enjoy the close proximity to major towns and cities and the motorway network. Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and York are just 4 major cities that are accessible for a day out either by car or public transport. The very popular Meadowhall Shopping Centre is just a fifteen minute drive away and provides free parking. Popular TV programmes have been filmed within the area, all of which are accessible for a day out Including Last of the Summer Wine, Emmerdale and Heartbeat!
