This unique and historic guest house has style, comfort, & safety. On the grounds of an historic 1898 Victorian home in the heart of Texarkana, this upstairs detached carriage house has privacy and comfort with a birds-eye view. Blocks from downtown, near the Perot Theater, farmers markets, museums, galleries, restaurants, and entertainment spots! Safe and cozy, in a quiet neighborhood, this private oasis offers a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, suitable for short- to long-term stays. Styled and appointed for the discerning guest, Pecan Carriage House is newly remodeled to be a cozy retreat with your safety and comfort as our guiding principles. From the tastefully decorated main room with king size Serta iComfort bed, two swivel rocker sitting chairs, 65-inch TCL/Roku 4K TV, and dedicated work desk, to the fully-equipped kitchen with new LG appliances (including ice maker), to the laundry room complete with washer, dryer, ironing board, and iron, to the newly tiled bath outfitted with hair dryer, robes, and grooming amenities, to the walk-in shower featuring Pantene shampoo & conditioner, and Olay body wash, you'll love being here every minute and won't want to leave! Relax in front of the TV, curl up with one of our favorite books, or play one of the many games provided for a little competition. You will feel safe with the steel entry door with peephole, keypad deadbolt, and carbon monoxide and strobe-equipped smoke detectors. You'll also have a first aid kit, fire extinguisher. and escape ladder just in case. You'll breathe easy with air constantly purified by the true HEPA air purifier, and we completely disinfect all surfaces between guests, including ozone shock treatment to kill all bacteria, viruses, etc. Ice and filtered water are refreshed after each guest, as are all linens, including duvet cover and pillow shams. Your health and well-being is our top priority! We are easily accessed just seven minutes from I-30 or I-49, just off State Line Drive or U.S. highway 82. Parking is available in the driveway for one car, and in the driveway or on the street for a second car. We will message you with full access details the day of your visit. We won’t impose, but we are happy to chat with you about the area, Airbnb hosting, education, pets, historic houses, or anything else. If you need anything during your stay or have an emergency, you can text us through the AirBnb app or ring the doorbell at the back door of the main house. We live on the property and are easily accessible day or night. We want to provide you with privacy, but know we are always ready to make your stay the best we can make it. A peaceful neighborhood 4 blocks from State Line avenue, and walking distance to Wadley Regional Medical Center. Located 1 mile from the downtown Texarkana entertainment district with bars, restaurants, and galleries. Several historic homes located on this block, and both fast food and sit-down dining are available 1-4 blocks away. Driving is the best method of transportation. We know that travelers are often drained at the end of the road, so help yourself to the complimentary snacks, cold beverages in the fridge, and hot coffee, tea, cocoa, or cider. Bring your own wine—we provide wine glasses and corkscrew. Dine at one of the many nearby restaurants, or have a night cap at downtown hot spots. Our Guestbook provides recommendations for our favorites. Need to wash clothes? Our laundry space has washer and dryer with detergent, fabric softener, etc. for your convenience. EV DRIVERS: We are the only Airbnb in the area to have electric vehicle charging. We support 40 Amps via Gen 3 Wall Connector for Tesla cars, delivering up to 36 mi/hr (288 miles in 8 hours) depending on model. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Arkansas in Curriculum and Instruction, and was a professor at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. She is now an Instructional Designer for Southwest Key Programs. Her husband Dana holds his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Arkansas. He is a psychology professor at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, with a focus on the psychology of peace and justice. We both love teaching and learning, movies and books, travel, time with family, and being Superhosts for people along their journey.
