Our cottage is a cosy character 200yr old cottage, with a traditional country kitchen, set in a rural village location overlooking the village green. It is ideally located between the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines giving access to beautiful walks, cycle routes and more locally, Acorn Bank and Broughton Castle. We are a dog friendly property with a traditional, lounge, cosy log burner, good wifi, smart TV, garden, 3 upstairs bedrooms and a bathroom. The cottage is built from beautiful pink stone, with an enclosed front and back garden. Inside the country kitchen is traditional tiled floor, Range Master oven and hob, butler sink and kitchen table overlooking the front garden and village green. The cottage is well equipped with everything you should need for your stay, including a slow cooker to ensure you have something hot and tasty after a day out on the fells. Downstairs is the lounge, containing a 3 seater leather sofa, snuggle chair, solid fuel burner, snuggly blankets and a large smart TV. The dining table seats 4 people and overlooks the front garden and village green. There is a range of books (which does change throughout the year) to cater for a range of interests, as well as some for a our younger guests. To the back of the property is a utility area with a small freezer and washing machine and a downstair WC and basin. Upstairs you will find 3 bedrooms, a double, a small double and a bunkroom. The lovely beamed main bedroom has a comfy double bed, cosy duvet and additional blankets if needed. Spacious built in wardrobes ensure space to unpack and feel at home. The smaller double bedroom has a small double (4ft wide), also has spacious built in wardrobes and a lovely view over the village green. The family bathroom is to the rear of the property with a short bath and shower combined, a sink and toilet. The property could potentially sleep more than 4 people - please ask for further details. The property has a small grassy back garden which is accessed via stone steps from the back door. The cottage is easy to find, 5 mins off the A66 in Temple Sowerby. The nearest national train line stations are Penrith and Appleby (both about 15mins away by car) Car parking - there is one parking space, in front of the property, a second car can be parked on the other side of the village green by the church. Please ensure you only park one car outside the cottage and be mindful of our neighbours at all times. Due to the uneven flag stones and steps throughout the property, sadly it would not be suitable for someone with limited mobility or who requires a wheelchair. Temple Sowerby is a beautiful red sandstone village between Penrith and Appleby lying next to the A66 trunk road which has bypassed the village since 2007. Wren Cottage is situated away from the main road, on the edge of a picturesque, large and tree lined village green. The green also contains some traditional childrens play equipment, visible from the cottage front garden, a pub and the very popular Velo Cafe (well worth a visit) PLEASE NOTE Our cottage is in a residential area with neighbours, we expect them not to be disturbed by any noise and for guests to be considerate throughout their stay, not suitable for parties and celebrations. There is one parking space directly outside the cottage, any additional cars to be parked just the other side of the village green by the church. Easy access to Penrith, Keswick and the North Lakes to the west, Kirkby Stephen and the Yorkshire Dales to the south and the North Pennines to the North west. On the edge of the village is Acorn Bank garden and Acorn Bank Mill, which is now owned by the National Trust. West of Acorn Bank is Mill Rigg House Farm – with a 15th century pele tower. Guests are welcome to use the log burner - using some of the logs and coal supplied. The instructions, with hints and tips are in the Welcome Pack. Please note that this burner does get HOT to touch and children MUST be supervised at all times if it is to be used. If staying with young children it is recommended that the log burner not be used.
