Welcome to our family's favorite lil' getaway - The Jolly Otter! Our waterfront cottage sits in a quiet area on one of the fingers of beautiful Lake Malone. Enjoy views from the large upper deck, relax in hammocks, take a walk down to the lake's edge to kayak/paddleboard directly from the yard (all equipment provided) & bring your fishing tackle for catfish, bluegill & bass. Bonfire pit avail. No boat dock as lake fluctuates, but can launch boats at nearby marina. 2 driveways for 4 car parking. The space is a perfect hideaway to recharge, relax & reconnect with nature. Watch for our daily visitors that include frisky otters, beavers (several beaver dams in the area), not-so-shy deer, fox, woodchucks, wild turkey and our local geese that often have babies with them! Lake Malone is a gorgeous 788-acre lake, enclosed by dramatic 50-ft sandstone bluffs, and is known as an “angler’s delight.” The Jolly Otter is just 3mi to Shady Cliff Restaurant/Marina/Bait Shop, 4mi to Wayne's Place (gas, burgers, milkshakes) & 8mi to Lake Malone State Park hiking trails, their new giant twig statues, a sandy beach & the local fishing spot - the spillway. I am available by text, call or email 24/7 before & during your stay and live just 1 hr away in case of an emergency. Highlights on Lake Malone include the yearly fireworks show, ongoing fishing tournaments, organized kayak paddles, bands that play under the natural stone arch, boat church and group hikes. Things To Do, Places to Eat, and a map of Lake Malone State Park are included in the Welcome Packet on table at your arrival. Nearby hiking trails include: Lake Malone State Park's 2-mile Laurel Trail, the 1/4-mile Wildflower Trail or the 2-mile Twisted Tree Trail. Find the ‘Big Twigs’, three 14’ tall friendly sculptures that depict hiking, fishing, and camping. “Happy Malone” welcomes visitors at his campsite, “Bobber Malone” is lakeside fishing for the “big catch”, & “Oakley Malone” is living large on the park’s hiking trail. Exact locations provided on MAP in the Welcome Packet on table at your arrival. On the way to Lake Malone State Park, look for the dam's spillway - a local favorite fishing spot, and you'll see signs for the sandy beach area, open in the summers.
