Culls Cottage, Southrop
Culls Cottage has been lovingly restored to provide all of today's modern living, with contemporary style in a traditional stone house and with a really special garden. It is in a beautiful village which has a great food pub within walking distance Culls Cottage is a light filled traditional Cotwolds Stone cottage and the central part of it dates from 1670. As such it is an historic grade 11 listed building and the village is also a conservation village. The house has all that you will need for a stay anytime of year. Underfloor heating, wood burner in the inglenook fireplace and goose-down duvets keep you cosy in winter and the large garden has lots of places to sit with a coffee or a gin and tonic and listen to the birdsong in the summer. The Swan pub is just a short walk away. At night, as there are no streetlights in the village the stars can shine bright and seeing the stars of the Milkyway in the night sky and hearing the owls hoot is a real treat. The cottage and the private garden are all yours. There is plenty of off street parking but the access drive is limited in width, so is more suitable for smaller cars. However there is plenty of room to park in the village on the roadside. We have a dedicated team of housekeepers that are available by phone and live in the area. Although I live overseas and travel extensively, I too am available by e mail throughout your stay, it may just take me a few hours to respond. The cottage is based in the rural village of Southrop, surrounded by beautiful Cotswold Countryside. The village is very old and the church is well worth looking inside. There is a beautiful walk over the fields to nearby Eastleach, which is another pretty village with an ancient clapper bridge over the river. Have a drink at the Victoria Pub before returning home over the fields again or by the lanes, which are not busy. Southrop is a rural village and a car is highly recommend not only to get to the village but also to see many of the sites of The Cotswolds. Buses do run to and from the village but they are limited. We have details of taxi services at the cottage. We are currently building a new kitchen and dining room to the rear of Culls Cottage, this will not be connected to the current cottage until January 2022. In the interim the builders will only be onsite when we do not have guests and the whole area of works is safely enclosed with a decorative mural. The garden is very large at Culls Cottage so there is plenty of space to still enjoy the wonderful space. If you have any specific questions before booking do just ask. The only shop in the village is on a wednesday morning at the local village hall, but there are many shops in the local villages, including large supermarkets at Carterton and Witney.
