Farm Guesthouse with Woods, Ponds, and Rail Trail

Unwind in this sunny, quaint one bedroom guesthouse surrounded by lush gardens, rolling fields, two ponds, and woods. Venture out to the paved, 9 mile rail trail via paths through the woods. Nature provides year-round entertainment—bring your bicycles or skis, running shoes or snowshoes. An additional space can be negotiated for working for long term winter stays and internet is fast. The apartment is connected to a 200 year old farmhouse. Your fridge will be stocked with a starter breakfast English muffins, peanut butter, and jelly. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, and half-and-half. Windows and views abound and snowfall can create a wonderland! Bay windows at both ends of the open living/dining room bring in the breeze and offer views of expansive fields and woods in both directions. Sit at the table and look two ways to fields, woods, and ponds. Everything is on one floor except the laundry which is one level down. An additional work space can be negotiated for winter long-term stays. Early risers can watch deer in the fields. If you're up late you may hear the Great Horned Owls. The unit is self contained, but the fields, ponds, paths and porch are all available. There are benches by the ponds if you prefer sitting to walking by. We are quiet and love being the stewards of this home and its environs. Many hiking trails, canoeing and kayaking waters, and view points can be accessed quickly by car. Although quiet and rural-feeling, we are close to universities, colleges, shopping, and downtown Albany is only 25 minutes away. We have many eateries nearby. Perfect Blend is a favorite coffee shop/bakery, 3 miles away. Andrew's Burger Shed serves mouthwatering burgers, steak fries, and onion rungs, 2.5 miles. Bellini's Italian Eatery is 2 miles with an excellent, upscale menu for special dinners. Garden Bistro 24 serves mussels, burgers, wonderful salads and is 2.5 miles. Hannaford Supermarket is 3.5 miles. Craft brewer, The Warbler Brewery is 4 miles. My favorite pizza is at Swifty’s in Delmar — beers on tap, pizza and more on extensive menu and just 3 miles away. There are many other places with differing ambiance and menus plus local breweries abound. Albany International Airport is 20 minutes away, the University at Albany is 11 minutes, RPI is 26 minutes, Amtrak is 21 minutes, Adirondack Trailways is 18 minutes. We have a fully automatic whole house generator if the power goes out and top internet volume and speed via Spectrum.
