The Shepherd’s Rest - Cosy, Comfortable & Private

A delightful, one of a kind, cosy shepherd’s hut. Nestled in the trees off the main road through Allerthorpe village. A tranquil space to relax and unwind. Overlooking a large paddock with plenty of room to explore. The Shepherd's Rest is a charming hut with rustic character. It’s designed to offer you a unique yet comfortable getaway, set in a private area all to yourselves. An idyllic place to unwind, explore and visit the local area. We’ll provide everything you need for a relaxing stay. Bathroom and kitchen facilities are separate to the hut and form part of a converted annex just metres away. Facilities include: 1 x small double sized bed (bedding & towels provided) Indoor Log burner (1 basket of fire wood provided) Bathroom comprising hot water shower, WC & sink Fully fitted kitchenette including pots, pans, crockery, glasses, mugs & cutlery Kettle and toaster Single hob camp stove & gas Tea, coffee, sugar & milk Fridge with a small freezer space Washing machine Outdoor seating Fire pit / BBQ We try to run the hut off solar panels in the summer but we plug in the electricity over the colder less sunny months November - April. This enables use of the extra lights and plugs. There is no WiFi. Available upon request: Breakfast basket including cereal, bread, homemade jam/marmalade, yogurt, fruit and our very own chicken eggs. Well behaved dogs are welcome but please give us prior notice if you plan to bring a furry friend. We charge an additional £10 cleaning fee for pets. We have private, off road parking on our drive. Self check-in details will be sent 24-48 hours before your scheduled arrival. We will leave you to enjoy our Shepherd’s Rest but if there’s anything you need during your stay, or any questions, we will do our best to help! A village location with close proximity to the Yorkshire Wolds, the North York Moors and the Dales. We are approximately 2 miles from the centre of the market town of Pocklington where you can find a number of coffee shops, bars and restaurants. We are approximately 12 miles from York city centre, 16 miles from Beverley and less than an hour from many coastal attractions. The village pub is just a stone's throw away and Allerthorpe Common and Nature Reserve offers beautiful wood side walks and cycle routes. Allerthorpe Lakeland Park is nearby and provides a beautiful lakeside walk, animals, a cafe, paddle boats, canoes and other water sports. If all that activity sounds like hard work, just kick off your shoes and spend the day lounging by the fire pit. Enjoy the beautiful countryside, wonder down to the local pub or cozy up next to the log burner. Extra wood for the wood burner and the fire pit as well as gas for the camp stove are available with a donation to our honesty box.
