Dear longtime friends of ours who live a few houses south of us oversee it when we are not vacationing there ourselves. What we love about the neighborhood other than it's wonderful, genuine people and very laid-back, peaceful, even idyllic atmosphere that takes you back to a time when life was simple, and that the house is quaintly and uniquely secluded. . .situated as the last one on a tiny stretch of road surrounded by forest and water. We own the tiny cottage behind it, our deceased parent's lifelong friends own the vacation home on the water next to our property, with their friends living just downstream to the south, and another set of long time friends adjacent. So it has that comfortable, secure, family feel to it where everyone has known each other for many, many years. Part of the allure of this vacation spot is it's natural and remote beauty in the Allegheny National Forest. It is rich with wildlife, clean air, quiet, peaceful surroundings, and the feel of a simple life. With that there are no buses or 18 wheelers on our side of the water, and very little local traffic. You will need your own vehicle to get there and get around, which can be conveniently parked on the double graveled driveway of the home, along with several others. We also have a span of widened shoulder space on the road at the edge of the driveway for more vehicles, and a single attached garage space available. From out of town the location can be easily navigated vi (Website hidden by Airbnb) maps. Simple directions for the last stretch off of Main Street is detailed in the HOUSE MANUAL. Please be sure to catch our SPECIAL NOTE at the bottom, but in the meantime! If relaxing on the water, with the small bordering trout stream (great for kids who like to find crawfish with a bucket!) isn't enough, for daytime excursions there are several enjoyable options. From your smartphone, scroll down under the location map to "More about the location", then to the "Show host GUIDEBOOK" we've created! If you don't bring your own, daytime canoes and kayaks can be rented North of us off of US 62 / 6 in Warren, PA at Allegheny Outfitters. You can even paddle ashore right at your vacation spot for a mid-stream (pottie?) break and refreshment! (Most of the water you'd be in with a kayak or canoe is less than waist deep, and ankle to knee deep with a rock shore at the south end of the property). For a peaceful jaunt you can walk the old, beautifully canopied railroad trail that runs along the water for miles (just follow the old train trestle south from our home!). Or how about a real life train ride? In the nearby, quaint town of Titusville :25 minutes away, you can take a guided historic journey "In The Valley That Changed The World" on the Oil Creek & Titusville RR; complete with both closed and open cars, snacks, refreshments, and souvenirs. REOPENING SOON: For a great homemade breakfast, lunch, (and sometimes dinner) that's close by, try the quaint little Hummingbird Cafe right in the heart of Tidioute. (You'll pass it on your way to the home) Fresh bread baked daily, and everything made from scratch. (For the quality they really should be charging more, but don't tell them I said that!). Also check out the historic LANDMARK HOTEL/RESTAURANT in downtown Tidioute. A quaint 19th century time capsule with a homemade, easy-on-the-budget, friendly, local feel that'll put you at ease. Great breakfasts and Friday fish fry. (Get there early!) Check out our very user friendly HOST GUIDEBOOK, complete with map pins, addresses, phone numbers, pics, descriptions, and even navigation on the go! SPECIAL NOTE: Sportsmen use PA STATE GAME LANDS from time to time for hunting, sighting in, and target practice, and is not uncommon at certain times of the year depending on the season, what's open game, etc. This is part of life here, and what the State of Pennsylvania provides in order to maintain the beauty of the Allegheny National Forest and to bring in state revenue. Though typically a peaceful and serene environment, if the possibility of noticing or witnessing these activities in the surrounding area from time to time is uncomfortable, unnerving, or unacceptable, please consider other Airbnb alternatives before staying with us and later penalizing your gracious Host in a review. Besides, life is too short and there's too much to enjoy here to let it get in the way, so thanks in advance for your consideration!
