Hamilton is a beautiful blend of 1890's history with a modern restoration. One of the first homes built, materials were sourced from England where the owner was part of the Hamilton gentry. Prominent on the corner tucked behind a picket fence and white standard roses, the Victorian home invites guests to hide away enjoying the fire, books and media room or to enjoy the town two blocks away with it's cafes, river, biking, art and weekend markets. You have found your perfect stay at Hamilton. This beautiful piece of history is turn of the century with double brick inside and out leaving inside a very consistent and comfortable temperature. The fourteen foot ornate ceilings were painted by painters from england and tell a story of their own. There are French doors throughout some to the Victorian style tiled verandahs which surround three side of the home perfect for tea and scones from the bakery a few blocks away. A white picket fence lined with white standard roses wraps around connecting with an indoor outdoor retractable doors into the yard for outdoor living. There are three fire places one working and smokeless to gather around just feeding connection and warmth. The the original ladies sitting room has a four poster bed original of the era. Within this history are all the modern advantages those of 1890 did not have. Reflected in the galley kitchen, are the treats of today blended in to the style of another era. As are the bathrooms with antifog mirrors and rainfall showers enjoyed yet blended to not betray history. The media room is also a modern spin on this ancient construct as is the electric gate. Skylights have flooded light into the home making this place the perfect stay to either retreat or to enjoy the town and its beauty. We are open to our guests if you are wanting to have a personal narrative of the town and what it provides or if you are wanting to rest or explore the area independently. Dungog boasts the oldest working theatre in NSW. Dairy and timber was the original life although now, tourism is what is catered to. Cafes, breweries, art and life style shops line the streets both sides. Actively, the common is on the NSW rotation for mountain biking, with shops in town supporting this activity. In winter, we are a comfortable drive away from snow access in the Barrington tops , in summer some beauty walks and drives. Hamilton is two blocks to the main shopping area and four from the train station. Dungog station is the last stop on the Sydney line, a comfortable fifty minutes to Maitland. Getting to walking tracks or the river can be on foot or a drive into the national and state parks around us.
