The cottage is located in Cannop, Coleford in the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean. It's close to Parkend, Cinderford, Lydney, Lydbrook and the Welsh border, being a 5-10 min drive to local shops, cafe's, pubs and restaurants It's great for activities (i.e. cycling , walking, horse-riding, canoeing, etc.) and/or for a relaxing time away from the hustle of daily life. We are about 5 mins from the Cannop Cycle centre, Cannop Ponds, Beechenhurst (Go Ape, Sculpture Trail, Forest walks, etc.). The cottage has wonderful views of the forest from both sides of the house. It has been designed with a contemporary modern feel with a touch of the old. The bathroom has a luxurious bath for a relaxing soak or a hot shower at the end of a day exploring to unwind. The warmth of the living room has an exposed stone wall with original wood flooring and a fantastic wood burner. The wood flooring flows into the dining room while the kitchen underfloor heating warms up your feet. The kitchen and dining rooms give a bright and fresh feel to the morning, great for spending time entertaining family and friends, at any time of the day. There is a ground floor modern shower room downstairs accessible via the Extension, which has double patio doors leading into the enclosed garden. We have 2 comfortable bedrooms to cater for 4 persons. You can enjoy sitting around the fire-pit for a BBQ, drinks, reading or just relaxing in the patio area. Out the back of the garden gate are 2 parking spaces that are in the forest. We look forward to seeing you. I will send out a Welcome Letter and Pack prior to your arrival date. We have a garden centre at the end of the road and are centrally located to most of the attractions in the forest. The Cannop Cycle centre is our nearest cafe and is bustling with cyclists, dog walkers and locals over weekends. It's lovely just to sit on the picnic benches and enjoy a hot meal. They hire out bikes and are a popular activity attraction. Beechenhurst has a cafe with picnic benches and a tourist shop being a great place for families, couples, dog walkers, bikers, etc. Further along, across the road is the Speech House where you can sit down, relax and have a meal, breakfast, tea/coffee, or a drink in the conservatory. The local towns like Coleford, Cinderford and Lydney have supermarkets, small coffee shops, pubs and some restaurants. Parkend has a small post office with a Cafe, further along is another Cycle Centre with cafe and Bike hire as well as pubs located close by. Hopewell Colliery is a 5-min drive from the cottage, in the direction to Coleford. They offer a guided tour of the mines under the forest, the colliery has a cafe, shop, surface museum and picnic areas. In Coleford town centre, you can visit the Coleford Great Western Railway Museum or play a game of golf at the Forest of Dean Golf Club . The Perrygrove Railway (train rides and adventure play for kids) is 7 mins from the cottage itself and further along from there is Puzzlewood (in the direction of Sling). There are many attractions that you can find on Tripadvisor, the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley website or other sites online. The most easiest way to travel is by car. Driving to Coleford town centre is 1.2 miles, Monmouth is 6 miles, Lydney is 7 miles, Ross-on-Wye 10 miles, Gloucester 19 miles, Chepstow 13 miles, Symmonds Yat 10 miles and Lydbrook is 3 miles. The internet connection at the cottage has been upgraded to provide fast speeds for Netflix and Disney channel's to be viewed by the guests
