Idyllic wood cabin overlooking tranquil pasture and pretty woodland situated on the historic footpath from Dollar to Rumbling Bridge only metres away from the dramatic beauty of the Devon River. With woodburning stove, fire-pit and private verandah, Larch Cabin offers a rustic retreat with a touch of luxury. Located in the grounds of our smallholding and surrounded by fantastic hikes, cycles and trails, the cabin provides a secret haven only 45 minutes away from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. Larch Cabin provides a rural escape for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts or those seeking peace and quiet amongst the stunning Ochil Hills whilst still being conveniently located for Dollar village and Gleneagles. Self-contained with open-plan living and sleeping space, Larch Cabin has been lovingly restored with sustainability at heart: heated exclusively by wood-burning stove fed with logs from our woodland, powered by renewable electricity and with water solely supplied via a private natural spring. Extensive insulation ensures snug winters and cool summers, however, water bottles and extra blankets are provided for the chilliest of Scottish nights and guests are encouraged to bring their own slippers to cosy in. The wood-burning stove includes integrated pizza shelf and top oven for cooking jacket potatoes or stews whilst a modern kitchenette with electric ceramic hob and fridge freezer gives the best of both worlds. Complete with a range of full cooking utensils and serving ware including stovetop espresso maker along with complimentary coffee from our local local coffee roaster. The ensuite bathroom provides a walk-in rainfall shower with water supplied from our own spring while a double-bed with organic cotton sheets creates a perfect resting place after a long day on the hills. All furnishings, complimentary toiletries and cleaning products are eco-friendly and, where possible, locally sourced and British made. The cabin's private verandah has seating for outdoor dining and offers unspoilt views across fields and woodlands: a perfect spot to enjoy the rich wildlife. We are very lucky to have red squirrels, deer and pine martens visiting the woodlands and beavers and otters have now been sighted in the Devon. The valley is full of birdsong including that of the song thrush, woodpecker, bullfinch, lapwing, fire crest, kite and heron to name a few. The cabin's private garden includes BBQ and firepit. Parking for one car is available within our gated property and Larch Cabin is accessed through our grounds. A safe-key box allows flexible check-in and an external sensor provides light. Please note there are three steps upto the cabin after which the space is all on one level. Larch Cabin enjoys privacy and seclusion at the bottom of our garden looking out towards the paddock and woodlands yet we are on hand at the main house should you need anything. To the west, the pretty village of Dollar is only two miles away providing general amenities including a lovely deli, welcoming cafe, excellent restaurant and cocktail bar whilst to the east, there is a wonderful micro-brewery at Muckhart Inn which also serves food. Both are an approximate 40 minute walk via the old footpath and cinder path respectively and torches can be provided for late night strolls home! Must-sees for outdoor lovers include the gothic gorge at Rumbling Bridge and the little known, yet spectacular, waterfall at Cauldron Linn and both are within walking distance from the cabin. The Ochill Hills themselves provide an extensive range of walks, climbs and runs for cross-country skiing in the winter when conditions are good. Further afield, world-class golfing is provided by Gleneagles, lake-side activites and bird-watching can be found at Loch Leven and more excellent mountain biking is available at Comrie Croft. The historical cities of Stirling and Perth have a wide range of historical and cultural sites and we're always delighted to share more of our recomendations for your stay. Larch Cabin is situated along the old path which runs along the stunning Arndean Valley from Dollar to Rumbling Bridge. Despite it's rural setting it is still conveniently located only 45 minutes away from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth with train services, as well as the London Sleeper, servicing both Stirling and Gleneagles railway station. A daily bus service runs from Kinross to Stirling and can be caught from the top of the road. Parking is provided for one car within our gated property, however, for those guests who travel to us via foot, pedal power or public transport than we would like to celebrate your journey with a complimentary bottle of bubbles upon your arrival. Please share photos of your travel adventures with us or provide a ticket stub! * As Larch Cabin is very much a spot to unwind and to getaway from the usual everyday noise, neither TV or WIFI is provided, however, 4G is available on most networks. * A well-behaved golden retriever cross lives in the main house. * Yoga stretch and body conditioning sessions are available upon request and bikes can be safely stored; please feel free to enjoy our books, board games and banjo!
