Artsy, bright, quiet 2BR/2BA in East Bay near SF
This 2 bed / 2 bath home is the perfect place to explore the Bay Area from. Point Richmond is the Bay Area's best kept secret. It's a small town experience just 15 minutes from Berkeley and Marin, and a 35-minute ferry from San Francisco. Wine Country is also easily reached. The property itself is just 3 blocks from downtown Point Richmond, and 1 block from beautiful views of the Bay, the Golden Gate, and SF. Filled with art and light, it is a wonderful retreat for the weekend - or longer! There are 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. Each bedroom has a premium Nectar queen-sized mattress. The master bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs (pots, pans, etc.) and has a dishwasher. There is a small washer/dryer, too. Outside, there is beautiful shared back yard with a fire pit. The house (duplex) is only 3 blocks from downtown Point Richmond's cafes, shops, and overall historic cuteness. There is on-site parking down a narrow drive (only appropriate for regular-sized cars, no large SUVs). The property is one unit of a duplex and has a separate entrance. There is a lockbox for the keys. There is limited street parking, but it is free. The property has onsite parking for 1 regular sized car. Point Richmond might be the Bay Area's coolest little town. It was once Richmond's main "downtown," and served as the terminus of the Southern Pacific railway for much of the earlier 20th century - it was here where you would get off your train from further east and embark on a ferry to finally get to San Francisco. Nowadays, there's no train - but the historic downtown is much the same as it was then. It's charming and quirky, and probably has some of the best views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Angel Island out of the whole Bay Area. Point Richmond has easy access to highway 580, so you can be in Oakland, Berkeley, or San Rafael (Marin) within 15 minutes. The ferry to San Francisco leaves from nearby Marina Bay (home of the Rosie the Riveter National Monument). It takes 35 minutes and takes you by some of the Bay's best sights, like Angel Island, Treasure Island, and the Golden Gate, arriving at the iconic Ferry Building. The wineries of Napa Valley are only about an hour away. This really is the best place to explore the Bay from. Two bus lines serve Point Richmond - Golden Gate Transit Route 40 and AC Transit Route 72M. The 40 stops at Tewksbury Ave and Castro St, and goes from the El Cerrito del Norte BART station (east end) to downtown San Rafael (west end). The 72M has multiple stops throughout town (closest is Washington Ave and Tewksbury Ave) and foes from point Richmond (west end) to Richmond BART and Amtrak station, then down San Pablo Avenue to Oakland's Jack London Square (east end). The Richmond ferry departs from nearby Marina Bay and takes you directly to San Francisco. There is some free on-street parking in Point Richmond. Weekly and monthly discounts available.
