The house is an end terrace with a parking space next to it. Number 32 is for your exclusive use during your stay, stays for longer than 1 week will have a service clean half way through so that we can change your linen and towels, clean the house throughout and restock any tea and biscuits as needed! We have a double bedroom with double bed and king size duvet, and a second larger room with twin single beds and an additional chair that converts into a bed. This chair bed is extremely comfortable with a decent base and mattress and is suitable for a child or adult. The chair bed will be made up on your arrival for groups of 5, if you need to use it but are a smaller group please let us know so that I can prepare it for you. The second bedroom also has a desk and chair with work lamp and is a pleasant work station. The house has a family bathroom upstairs as well as an additional toilet and sink in the cloakroom beyond the utility room downstairs. We have a fully-equipped, spacious kitchen with cooker, small fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine, as well as a good sized kitchen table with 4 chairs and 2 vintage stools to use. We are able to provide a travel cot and high chair for infants on request. The lounge has two good-sized sofas as well as a coffee table, side table and bookcase with books and games, and the TV is smart with Netflix loaded on for you, as well as having all the usual TV channels.Tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, hot chocolate and Nespresso pods are provided along with fresh milk in the fridge at the beginning of your stay so you can have a relax and unpack before having to head to the shops after your journey - although Morrison’s is just across the road for anything else you might need. All of the space is for your sole use including the yard and parking space during your stay, with the exception of the loft! We live opposite at no 23 Mill Street and are available for recommendations and to help with any queries/ difficulties either in person or by telephone - please see the welcome book for useful numbers and information as well as the Wifi password and background information on the history of the house. Number 32 is on Mill Street, just down the road from a Morrisons supermarket and a local pub, and a short walk up the hill to the main Town Square with shops (mainly independent), cafes, restaurants, takeaways and pubs. The town also boasts an impressive CofE church, as well as several other denominational places of worship; a sports centre with modern swimming pool; and a plethora of charity shops for bargain hunters. Crediton was originally the main town for Devon, until Exeter eclipsed it when trading moved down to use the better forms of transport available there. This is one of the reasons why the church is so imposing, and why Crediton used to have its own Bishop, before this position was also moved to Exeter when the Cathedral was built. Crediton lies in a steep valley between rolling hills and is surrounded by some beautiful countryside, including a country park on the outskirts of the town and many public footpaths and country roads to ramble along taking in the views. Crediton can even lay claim to St Boniface, who was born in 680AD round the corner from where the Old Dairy now sits and is credited with bringing Christianity to the heathens in Germany, and the miracle of creating the first Christmas tree by chopping down an old Oak being worshipped by pagans. The Christmas tree sprang up from the stump of the oak. An interesting account of his life can be found at table 10 in the Wetherspoons pub in the main high street! We are only 2 doors down and opposite from a Morrisons where there are ample parking spaces. On street parking is allowed between 6pm and 8am, and we have a parking space next to the property. The bus stop is at the end of the street ( 2 minute walk) and there are usually 3 buses an hour into Exeter ( the number 5, 5a, 5b or 5c). Exeter University Campus is a 15 minute drive away but can also be accessed by the public transport from Crediton. The Train station is approximately 8 minutes walk away and has a good service to both Barnstaple in North Devon ( where you can join the Tarka trail) and Exeter, with direct connections in Exeter to go on to Exmouth, Dawlish, Teignmouth (all beautiful seaside towns) and you can change here to access the National rail network. The surrounding area has several fishing lakes with 4 fishing lakes within a 7 mile radius and Crediton is excellently placed to be an easy trip away from all major points of interest around the county including the Dartmoor and Exmoor areas of outstanding natural beauty. We are on a main road so the traffic can be busy at different times of the day but quietens down at night. The front windows are double glazed but the back ones are not. We use remote check in via a key safe on the rear entrance - a code will be sent to you on the day of arrival which is changed after each visit. We would prefer you use the back entrance to enter and leave the property as this is where the coat stand and shoe racks are, plus the front door opens onto a narrow path and then onto the main road, and the lounge has new carpets. The outside yard is too small for ball games and backs onto our neighbours back door so we would appreciate it if noise levels were kept to a minimum especially after 9pm and before 7am. If you smoke, please use the ashtrays provided outside in the yard - it is a non-smoking property.
