Welcome to the Swift Run Bell Tent! Stay cozy in this 4 season canvas tent, complete with a wood stove, queen sized memory foam bed, & heated outdoor shower(seasonal.) Located 10 minutes from the Swift Run entrance of Shenandoah National Park, you can be out hiking in no time. Relax in Adirondack chairs on the deck by the fire pit or in the hammock chairs below. Enjoy all Shenandoah valley has to offer from this central location; drive to Luray Caverns, Shenandoah River, Massanutten Resort, etc. This 16ft tent feels massive with a 10ft ceiling center. Listen to the birds in the morning and the crickets at night. Your glamping stay will be a step-above ordinary camping, so enjoy getting off the grid for a few days. There is a small trail (approximately 250ft) to get from the parking area to the tent. This property is on a mountain, so it is a little hilly with an incline. There is no wifi provided at the tent, and cell reception can be spotty. There is great service as soon as you hit the road to go into town. There is one dedicated power cord ran to the deck so you can operate the exterior lights at night. Inside the tent there is a 300 watt hour Bluetti power station for recharging electronic devices. It even has a wireless charger on top in case you forget or lose a cord. For cooking, there is a butane cooktop as well as the wood stove. We provide some light kitchenwares like pots and pans, knives, and dinnerware. There is a French press, coffee percolator, and tea kettle for making hot beverages in the morning. For food storage there is a 45 quart cooler. The bathroom is located in brand new white vinyl building built right next to the tent! We have a composting toilet and a Camplux Instant Hot Water Camping Shower. NOTE: *Winter campers* as of 11/19, temperatures at night are consistently too cold for us to supply running water or operate the shower. The shower will be reinstalled in the spring, approximately the beginning of March. For heat inside, there is a Wood Stove and a Mr. Buddy radiant heater. The buddy heater runs off of 1LB propane canisters. We provide a couple of canisters so you can stay warm while lighting the wood stove. Expect each canister to only last a few hours. If you would prefer to use more propane during your stay, you can pick up propane canisters in the camping/outdoor section of many stores, including Walmart :) The Wood Stove can heat up a 1200sqft house and does a great job heating the tent even in freezing temperatures, but it does take time and love to get it roaring. Much like turning up a thermostat in a cold house, it takes time for the wood stove to heat up the space. You will need to add wood every few hours. We provide lots of wood but you are free to bring your own if you would like. Outside, the fire pit operates on 20lbs propane tanks. We provide additional tanks on site and you may have to fetch one if the one attached to the pit runs out. (Please do not use wood in the fire pit.) There is a cottage and another yurt on the same acreage. You share a parking area with the other yurt, but you very much have your own space to enjoy. Guests have access to the 250ft trail to the tent, the bathroom, and the outdoor spaces around the tent :) I will be on-site frequently, but may not always be around. Feel free to text or call. There is limited service at the location so messaging through the app is the best way to get ahold of me. Cell reception picks back up as you leave Hensley Hollow. We ask that you are respectful of the rural nature of this property and be courteous to our neighbors while you are our guests. You can use the outdoor amenities any time of night, but please be mindful of volume after dark to help preserve the serenity of the woods for our neighbors and your fellow guests. Our home is located on a private road. There is signage indicating which way you should go on the loop to reach us; go straight following signs for the Hensley Hollow Lodge. Once you get up the driveway, do not turn right toward the lodge, but instead drive straight until your reach your designated parking spot. Our road and driveway are gravel. The tent site is about 250ft from the parking spot and the trail requires decent shoes. The shower is seasonal as it cannot be operated in freezing temperatures.
