FINCA PURA VIDA Finca Pura Vida is situated in the middle of lush mountains and rainforest in the idyllic valley of the Armado River. The nearest village, La Suiza, is approximately 1.5 km away – far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of unspoilt nature but close enough to meet your daily requirements even without having to use the car. The ten hectare ground of Finca Pura Vida offers ample space to take walks, to sunbathe or to simply relax and refresh yourself in the river. And it is a paradise for birdwatcher which offers almost 200 diferent species of birds. Your holiday home is built in a typically Costa-Rican style. There are two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a spacious roofed patio. Both bedrooms are furnished with a queen-size bed and on open wardrobe. The bathroom offers a shower, a sink and a toilet. The kitchen is well equipped with china, glasses and cutlery, sauce pans and frying pans as well as a big fridge/freezer. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are there for you to use. Should you have further requirements, your hosts Flora and Joaquin will be very happy to help you. Due to the pleasant temperatures, you will most likely spend most of your time outside. Hence, you will enjoy the 50m² roofed patio where you can eat, drink, relax or party. There are cooking facilities with a barbecue and a gas-cooker with two rings, a big table with benches and chairs as well as a hammock. At Finca Pura Vida there are no direct neighbours. If you feel like socialising, take a stroll to La Suiza and you will find that the Ticos, as the Costa Rican people call themselves, are very open-minded, friendly and laid-back people who will readily have a chat with you even if your Spanish is less than perfect. Feel free to use al facilities in the house and go everywhere at the Finca. Make yourself at home. Should you have further requirements, your host Maria will be very happy to help you. She also takes care of the cabins. Good starting point for ACTIVITIES: Explore the beauty of Finca Pura Vida by foot and enjoy spectacular views all around. There are so many paths to take – you will discover something new every day. Birdwatchers will feel in paradise. There are almost 200 diferent species of birds to be seen. If you want I can send you a list. Rafting: Costa Rica is well-known for its excellent rafting facilities. The rivers Pacuare and Reventazon – both close to Finca Pura Vida – rank among the top ten rafting rivers in the world. Volcano-tours: You should visit the volcanos Turrialba and Irazu which you can see from the finca. The Turrialba is active since a few yours so you should get information at the park-administration if the access is permitted. National Park Tapantí: Tapantí is located a few kilometers south of the Orosi Valley. Walking In the park you have the oportunity to see abundant tropical rain forest and with a bit luck some wildlife. Furthermore, you can have fun canyoning, you can go on guided walks or mountain bike trips or you can enjoy a day on the back of a horse. For a real adventure, try Canopy! It’s an exciting and novel way of seeing the rainforest. Hooked to a steel wire rope, you will fly from treetop to treetop and experience the rainforest from a bird’s eye view. If you have no head for heights, however, you better stay on the ground. Guayabo National Monument If you are interested in Costa Rican culture, go to see the Guayabo National Monument. At the foot of Turrialba volcano, approximately 20 km North East of Turrialba town, there is a archeological excavation site showing a pre-columbian settlement. From Fica Pura Vida, take a day trip to the biggest National Forest in Costa Rica, to Parque Internacional de la Amistad. Here you will find Costa Rica’s highest mountain, Chirripo, and some aboriginal people reserves. The property is very close to La Suiza, approximately 1.5 km. So it is close enough to meet your daily requirements even without having to use the car. Also there is good bus conection to San José and to the carrebean coast. If you want to see some highlights in the region like volcanos, Tapantí and Guayabo for example and don't have much time it is better to have a car. If you are going to rent one you should take a four-wheel-drive. The roads in Costa Rica are quite poor and so is the road from La Suiza to the Finca. It's a dirt road which is quite dificult to manage with a normal car.
