☼Burnside Cottage is a quaint 2 bedroomed cottage located between Anstruther and St Andrews in the East Neuk of Fife. ☼It is close to St Andrews with its many golf courses and is an ideal base for exploring the little fishing villages on the Fife coast.☼ It is in the heart of the beautiful hamlet of Kilrenny and is within walking distance of the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants of Cellardyke and Anstruther.☼ It is newly restored and has an enclosed garden close to the village playpark☺ Burnside Cottage dates from 1750 and has been newly and lovingly restored in Spring 2018 by Dorothy and Andrew Murphy installing new floors throughout, new kitchen and bathroom and completely redcorated. It is situated on the edge of the village in Routine Row which is free of traffic and overlooks the grounds of Invergellie House to the rear with the result that it is a very peaceful location a real antidote to the hurly burly of modern life. It benefits from intelligent central heating, wifi, and a state of the art smart television with access to over 70 channels. There is a brand new log burner in the lounge ideal for cosy romantic winter nights. The whole cottage and enclosed rear garden which is ideal for children or pets to play in safety Kilrenny is a picturesque hamlet consisting of around 65 houses many of them dating back to the 18th century. It is surrounded by farmland and Burnside Cottage has a clear view across parkland to the local Manor House of Invergellie. A 5 minute walk takes you to the beach and the Fife Coastal Path. A ten minute walk takes you to the shops, restuarants and pubs of Cellardyke and Anstruther. This locality is known as Fifes' Golden Fringe due to its lovely golden beaches. It is also known as The East Neuk of Fife. A short drive along the coast road takes you to the fishing villages of Pittenweem , Crail and St Monans and to the Burgh of Elie where the Hoi Polloi of Edinburgh come to play. St Andrews the home of golf is a 15 minute drive away and although you have to enter a lottery to get a chance to play on the world famous Old Course there are many other high quality courses throughout Fife where it is not difficult to book in advance. In Scotland golf has always been a game for everyone so it is fairly inexpensive to play. Fife has lots of historic places of interest. In the immediate locality there is the Fishermans Museum at Anstruther, Kellie Castle and Gardens, The Secret Bunker and Cambo House famed for its spring flowers. A bit further inland there is Falkland Palace , Hill of Tarvit Mansion and Edinburgh and Stirling Castles are just over an hours drive away. For the more adverturous there are all the usual coastal activities, sea fishing, rock climbing, kayaking, surfing and boat trips to the Isle of May seabird reserve. One thing is for sure, you will not be at a loss for something interesting to do or visit in Fife Stagecoach Scotland operates an hourly bus service which can be caught on the main road across from Kilrenny Church The link to the bus timetable is shown below. (Website hidden by Airbnb) This service runs from St Andrews to Leven and back again giving easy access to all the coastal villages and attractions.
