Named after the famous poet William Wordsworth, who lived in the area, this cottage features two bathrooms, a downstairs living area with sofa bed, wrap around lounge, dining suite and kitchen, log burner and tv. Upstairs there are two bedrooms; a super king brass bed and two singles. The 17th century cottage is next to the Norman Keep. Steeped in history Appleby Castle dates from Roman times. This Motte and Bailey Castle boasts one of the few intact Norman Keeps in the United Kingdom. Common areas include the bar, great hall, old chapel of lounge, dining room, games room old great hall and inner bailey. Our reception is manned from 8am until 10.30am and from 3pm until 10.00pm. There is always someone at the property in case of emergency or urgent assistance. Appleby Castle sits on the hill overlooking the ancient county town of Westmorland. Set at the foot of the Pennines nestled next to the meandering River there are 25 acres of parkland with many animals and nativer red squirrels in the grounds. Appleby Castle cherishes one of the few remaining intact Norman Keeps in the UK. It is a museum detailing the early Norman history intertwined with the history of the castle, with a time line displays and many interesting characters to meet.
